Abstract: According to examples, area coverage vectors for each pixel on each slice of a digital representation of an object may be determined and a two-dimensional halftone matrix including threshold values may be subdivided into a plurality of sub-matrices, each sub-matrix including threshold values of the halftone matrix in a respective value sub-range. In addition, for each of the slices, a sub-matrix of the plurality of sub-matrices may be selected and the area coverage vectors for the pixels in the slice may be halftoned using respective threshold values of the selected sub-matrix.

Abstract: In some examples, simultaneous color development for thermally activated print media may include ascertaining an input image that is to be printed using a thermal printhead. Colors that are to be printed may be determined for a plurality of specified pixels of the input image. A plurality of frequencies may be clustered to print each color of the determined colors. Based on the clustered plurality of frequencies, operation of a printhead that is to print the plurality of specified pixels may be controlled.

Abstract: Certain examples described herein relate to the preprocessing of object data for the manufacture of a three-dimensional object. In one case, the object data represents at least a first and a second object portion, the first object portion being associated with a first production material composition and the second object portion being associated with a second production material composition. The first and the second object portions may be arranged such that they comprise a contiguous interface. In certain described cases, the object data is modified by modulating the contiguous interface. Said modulating the contiguous interface may comprise modulating data defining at least one of the first and the second object parts such that a portion of at least one of the first and second production material compositions extends into object space occupied by a respective one of the second and first object parts. The resultant modified object data may be used to manufacture the three-dimensional object.

Abstract: An example non-transitory machine-readable medium includes instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to define a color encoding based on selected colors within a reference color space. The selected colors include white, black, and a set of chromatic colors spanning different print gamuts of a range of different printing devices. The instructions are further to encode a source datapoint of a source color space with the color encoding to obtain a reference datapoint of the reference color space by determining the reference datapoint as a mixture of white, black, and two colors selected from the set of chromatic colors, and output the reference datapoint.

Abstract: A printing system includes a machine readable storage medium storing instructions and a processor to execute the instructions. The processor is to execute the instructions to receive a source image comprising a plurality of regions and analyze each region of the plurality of regions to determine an ink density of each region. The processor is to execute the instructions to further in response to the ink density for a region exceeding a threshold, deplete the ink density for the region; and in response to the ink density for a region not exceeding the threshold, maintain the ink density for the region. The processor is to execute the instructions to further combine the depleted regions and the maintained regions to generate an optimized image.

Abstract: In one example in accordance with the present disclosure, a printing device is described. The printing device includes a single thermal printhead that includes an array of heating elements. The array of heating elements are selectively powered to form content on both sides of thermal media passing thereby. Different sides of the thermal media have thermal dye layers with different activation sensitivities. The printing device also includes a media transport system to move the thermal media by the single thermal printhead. A controller of the printing device generates printed content on both sides of the thermal media in a single pass by powering the single thermal printhead based on both content to be formed on a first side and content to be formed on a second side.
