Abstract: A nozzle in a burner assembly is configured to produce a flame. The nozzle is configured to include a fuel-discharge outlet and to conduct fuel along a path in the nozzle to the fuel-discharge outlet. Pressurized primary oxygen is provided to mix with fuel discharged by the nozzle to produce a mixture that can be ignited to produce a flame. Staged oxygen is provided to the flame in a region downstream from the nozzle.

Abstract: A coaxial fuel and oxygen pipe apparatus can include a fuel pipe and an oxygen pipe, wherein the fuel pipe is contained within the oxygen pipe and the oxygen pipe comprises an internal diameter that is continuous without diameter changes along a length of the oxygen pipe. The fuel pipe can include an internal diameter that is continuous without diameter variations along a length of the fuel pipe. A discharge block includes a diverging section and a discharge that forms a final outlet with respect to the fuel pipe and the oxygen pipe. The discharge block is configured with two angles that can facilitate conditions for eliminating recirculation, wherein the two angles are matched to an expansion rate of the products of combustion to maintain a positive pressure throughout a final discharge from the final outlet.

Abstract: The pre-mix burner assembly includes a jet pump comprising a suction chamber, a flue gas inlet, and a combustion air tube with a combustion air nozzle. The combustion air inlet includes a combustion air tube with a tapered nozzle, and it is connected to a combustion air fan. The flue gas inlet is connected to the suction chamber and the combustion air fan. The suction chamber surrounds the combustion air tube, and it has a jet pump nozzle with a discharge. The assembly includes a fuel gas inlet connected to the combustion air tube. The combustion air and fuel gas mixture exits the combustion air nozzle creating a negative pressure in the suction chamber and drawing flue gas into the suction chamber. The assembly includes a mixing tube positioned downstream of the jet pump discharge, and a burner block connected to an outlet of the mixing tube.

Abstract: A burner assembly combines oxygen and fuel to produce a flame. The burner assembly includes an oxygen supply tube adapted to receive a stream of oxygen and a fuel supply tube arranged to extend through the oxygen tube to convey a stream of fluidized, pulverized, solid fuel into a flame chamber. Oxygen flowing through the oxygen supply tube passes through oxygen-injection holes formed in the fuel supply tube and then mixes with fluidized, pulverized, solid fuel passing through the fuel supply tube to create an oxygen-fuel mixture in a downstream portion of the fuel supply tube. This mixture is discharged into the flame chamber and ignited in a flame chamber to produce a flame.

Abstract: A fuel nozzle and a method of operating the fuel nozzle, can include a group of chambers located in the fuel nozzle, wherein the chambers can include an inner mixing chamber and an outer mixing chamber. The inner mixing chamber and the outer mixing chamber each can accept air and fuel separately and combine the air and the fuel to form a mixture of the air and the fuel. A first hole pattern and a second hole pattern can be configured in the fuel nozzle, wherein the fuel enters the inner mixing chamber through the first hole pattern and enters the outer mixing chamber through the second hole pattern. Furthermore, an angled discharge can be included with the inner mixing chamber, wherein the angled discharge slows an exit velocity of the mixture of the air and the fuel prior to exiting the fuel nozzle through a discharge end of the fuel nozzle. The group of chambers together with the first hole pattern and the second hole pattern and the angled discharge can facilitate stabilization of a flame at two distinct points downstream of the fuel nozzle depending on the rate of flow of the fuel and the air.

The combustion air exiting the combustion air nozzle creates a negative pressure in the suction chamber and draws flue gas into the suction chamber. There is a burner housing positioned downstream of the jet pump discharge. There is a fuel gas inlet connected to a mixing tube in the burner housing, and a burner block connected to the outlet of the burner housing.
