Abstract: Embodiments of this application relates to a multi-link communication setup method and a related apparatus. The method includes: a non-AP MLD sends an association request frame on a first link, to request multi-link setup. An AP MLD returns an association response frame on the first link, to notify whether multi-link setup succeeds. The AP MLD sets a second status code field of a multi-link element of the association response frame to a newly defined value, to indicate that a cause why a link is not accepted is that the first link is not accepted. This application is applied to a WLAN system that supports a next generation Wi-Fi protocol of 802.11ax, for example, 802.11be, Wi-Fi 7, or EHT, and other 802.11 series protocols; and for another example, a next generation protocol of 802.11be: Wi-Fi 8.

Abstract: This application provides a communications method and a communications apparatus. A first station in a first multi-link device sends first information to a second multi-link device, where the first information is used to indicate a frequency at which how often a station in a power saving mode in the first multi-link device receives a beacon frame. In this way, the second multi-link device may learn about, based on the first information, how often a frequency at which a station in the first multi-link device receives a beacon frame, thereby helping the second multi-link device effectively manage a cache service of each station in the first multi-link device and manage a data buffer space.

Abstract: This application discloses a multi-link communication probe request method and apparatus. The method includes: a non-access point multi-link device (non-AP MLD) generates a probe request frame, and sends the probe request frame to an access point multi-link device (AP MLD), and the AP MLD receives the probe request frame, and generates a probe response frame and sends to the non-AP MLD. The first STA receives a response frame from the AP MLD, wherein the response frame indicates that the single-link communication is successfully established. The first STA performs air interface transmission with the AP MLD according to the single-link communication.
