Abstract: A technique includes a first compute node of a cluster of nodes receiving a communication from a cluster maintenance node of the cluster instructing the first compute node to provide an installation image that is received by the first compute node to a second compute node of the cluster. The first node and the second node are peers. The technique includes sharing the first installation stream that communicates the image to the first compute node. Sharing the first installation stream includes, while the first compute node is receiving the first installation stream, the first compute node providing a second installation stream to communicate parts of the image received via the first installation stream to the second compute node.

Abstract: In example implementations, an apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a processor, an image creation tool, an operating system (OS) image repository and a secondary node interface. The processor has a first architecture and is in communication with the image creation tool, the OS image repository, and the secondary node interface. The image creation tool is to create an OS image for end nodes having the first architecture. The OS image repository is to store OS images. The secondary node shell is to provide an interface to a secondary node with a processor having a second architecture. An OS image for end nodes having the second architecture is created by the secondary node via the secondary node interface.

Abstract: A computer-readable medium comprises instructions which, upon execution by a node in a multi-node data processing system, enable the node to serve as a first leader node by receiving system log data from multiple compute nodes in a first cluster of the multi-node data processing system, and by saving the system log data in shared storage that is also used by second and third leader nodes to save system log data for compute nodes in second and third clusters of the multi-node data processing system. The instructions further enable the node to respond to failure of either of the second and third leader nodes by automatically assuming system logging duties for the compute nodes in the cluster that was associated with the failed leader node. The instructions may also enable the node to serve as a console bridge and to save console log data in the shared storage.
