摘要： A charging apparatus includes a charging roller, contactable to an object to be charged, for charging the object to be charged, the charging roller being provided with a rotation shaft, an electroconductive bearing for supporting the rotation shaft, a contact member for urging the bearing to press-contact the charging roller to the object to be charged, wherein a first electric energy supply path is established from the contact member to the rotation shaft through the bearing to supply electric energy from the contact member to the rotation shaft, a power supply contacted to a peripheral surface of the rotation shaft, wherein the contact member urges the power supply to press-contact the power supply to the peripheral surface of the rotation shaft, wherein a second electric energy supply path is established to supply electric energy from the contact member to the rotation shaft through the power supply member, and the power supply member is movable in a direction of urging of the contact member independently of the bearing.

摘要： A method of supplying toner into a toner accommodation container for accommodating the toner to be used for developing a latent image formed on an electrophotographic photosensitive member includes opening a cover member for covering an opening provided in a toner accommodation container; mounting a first toner supply container containing the toner to be supplied to the toner accommodation container, to the opening; pushing the first toner supply container into the toner accommodation container in interrelation with closing of the cover member; closing the cover member; supplying the toner from the first toner supply container to the toner accommodation container by opening a toner supply port of the first toner supply container pushed in the toner accommodation container; wherein a volume of the first toner supply container can be reduced in a direction crossing with a longitudinal direction of the toner supply container.

The cartridge also includes a contact portion for moving a shutter for protecting the main assembly connector from a protecting position to a retracted position in response to mounting of the process cartridge to the main assembly.

摘要： A cleaning frame used in a process cartridge which is detachably mountable to a main body of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus and which includes an electrophotographic photosensitive drum, and a cleaning member for removing developer adhered to the electrophotographic photosensitive drum, the process cartridge including a drum attaching portion for attaching the electrophotographic photosensitive drum, a cleaning member attaching portion for attaching the cleaning member, one end wall provided at one longitudinal end of the cleaning frame, the other end wall provided at the other longitudinal end of the cleaning frame, an exposure opening for receiving information light to be illuminated onto the electrophotographic photosensitive drum attached to the drum attaching portion when the process cartridge is mounted to the main body of the electrophotographic image forming apparatus, and a reinforcing member provided between the one end wall and the other end wall along the longitudinal direction of the cleaning frame said reinforcing member being disposed at a side opposite to the side at which the exposure opening is provided in the cleaning frame a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction of the cleaning frame, wherein a gap between said reinforcing member and a deep side wall opposed to said cleaning member attached to said cleaning member attaching portion at a side opposite to the side at which said exposure opening is provided in the direction transverse to the longitudinal direction of said cleaning frame is 0.5 mm to 3.0 mm.

The cartridge further includes a first projection guided by the main body when the process cartridge is mounted on or dismounted from the main body, the first projection protruding from one end and being coaxial with the electrophotographic photosensitive member, a guiding second projection projecting from an opposite surface and being coaxial with the photosensitive member, a third guiding projection located substantially above the first projection when the process cartridge is mounted on the main body, and a fourth guiding projection located substantially above the second projection in a state in which the process cartridge is mounted on the main body. The distance between the first projection and the third projection is different from the distance between the second projection and the fourth projection.
