Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems, architectures and interfaces for reference signal (RS) configuration, generation, and/or transmission in a transmitter/receiver. The method includes receiving information indicating any of at least first and second modes of operation for transmitting a discrete Fourier transform (DFT)-spread-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DFT-s-OFDM) symbol including a reference signal (RS), and transmitting the DFT-s-OFDM symbol including: (1) the RS and data tones, on condition that the information indicates the first mode; or (2) the RS and null tones, on condition that the information indicates the second mode, wherein the DFT-s-OFDM symbol is divided into a number of segments, each including a chunk of RS tones, and wherein any of a size or a location of the chunk is determined according to any of the first or second modes.

Abstract: Receiver assisted channel access may be used during a channel occupancy time (COT). A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) that is a member of a first group may receive a preamble in a first time slot set, and determine a group associated with the first time slot. On a condition that the group associated with the first time slot set is the first group, the WTRU may monitor the channel for a request-to-send (RTS) signal in the first slot set. On a condition that the RTS signal is received, the WTRU may perform listen-before-talk (LBT) on the channel. On a condition that the LBT is successful, the WTRU may transmit a clear-to-send (CTS) on the channel and access the channel in the first time slot. On a condition that the LBT is unsuccessful, the WTRU may not access the channel in the first time slot set.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for channel access and listen-before-talk approaches for new radio operation in unlicensed bands and/or licensed bands. A gNB and a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may operate in unlicensed spectrum. The gNB may perform listen-before-talk operation, and when successful, may send a downlink control channel with a slot format indication (SFI) to the WTRU. There may also be a handshaking procedure with an exchange of a request to transmit (RTT) and a request to receive (RTR). Prior to receiving the downlink channel, the WTRU may monitor search spaces at a first level, and once the downlink channel is received the WTRU may monitor search spaces at a second level. At the end of transmission, the WTRU may revert back to monitoring search spaces at the first level. In one example, the first level may be a mini-slot level and the second level may be a slot level.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for phase noise reference signal (PNRS) transmission, comprising receiving, at a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU), scheduling information for a Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) transmission, wherein the scheduling information includes an indication of a set of physical resource blocks (PRBs) and a modulation coding scheme (MCS) level, determining a density for the PNRS transmission based on at least one of: the MCS level, a frequency band for the PUSCH transmission, or a subcarrier spacing of the PUSCH transmission, and transmitting the PUSCH in the scheduled set of PRBs using the determined density of PNRS.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), frequency hopping, and power control. NOMA may be applied to asynchronous and/or grant-free transmissions. Transmissions from multiple WTRUs may be performed using the same resources, and may comprise information for correctly identifying and decoding the transmissions. The transmissions may comprise a built-in deterministic sequence to support timing acquisition at a receiver. The transmissions may be distinguished based on respective transmit power used for the transmissions. Such transmit power may be dynamically controlled by applying a randomly selected power offset. The power control may be performed autonomously by a WTRU.

Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), using mixed numerologies, may, in a first codeword, map a first set of bits to a higher order modulation scheme and a second set of bits to a lower order scheme, and transmit the first codeword. The WTRU may determine that data of the first codeword is to be re-transmitted on a second codeword, containing the same number of bits as the first codeword. In the second codeword, the WTRU may map a first set of bits to the lower order scheme and a second set of bits to the higher order scheme. The first set of bits of the second codeword may contain the same number of bits as the second set of bits of the first codeword and may contain at least a subset of data in the first set of bits of the first codeword. The WTRU may transmit the second codeword.

Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may receive a first signal including a primary synchronization signal (PSS) and a secondary synchronization signal (SSS). The PSS and SSS may be received in a resource block of a cell and the resource block may have a first numerology. Further, the first numerology may have a first subcarrier spacing, while other resources of the cell at a same time as the resource block may have a second numerology with a different subcarrier spacing than the first numerology. In addition, the WTRU may determine synchronization based on the PSS and SSS. Also, the WTRU may receive a second signal in the cell, and the second signal may have the second numerology. Moreover, the WTRU may transmit user data. In a further example, the WTRU may search a frequency raster for the PSS and the SSS.
