Abstract: A terminal board assembly for an electric motor is described. The terminal board assembly is configured to mount inside an electric motor terminal or conduit box and includes a terminal board and a mounting bracket. The terminal board includes six terminal studs and three connecting bars extending between the terminal studs. Quick connect spade type connectors are coupled to the six terminal studs adjacent the bottom of the terminal board to facilitate quick and easy connection of the wire connection leads of an electric motor. The terminal studs and connecting bars permit a choice of “Y” or “Delta” voltage connections to the electric motor. The terminal board also includes a first and a second slot positioned at, and parallel to, opposing ends of the board. The mounting bracket includes a base portion and first and second side portions depending from opposing ends of the base portion. An engaging portion extends from each side portion and is configured to extend through the slots positioned at the opposing ends of the terminal board. Each engaging portion includes a retaining tab configured to engage the terminal board. The base portion of the mounting bracket includes at least one mounting opening for attaching the bracket to the electric motor conduit box.

Abstract: An electric motor assembly has a motor housing, a stator mounted in the housing, a rotor rotatably mounted in the housing and disposed adjacent the stator, a pair of end shields mounted adjacent opposing ends of the motor housing having bearings disposed therein for rotatably supporting the rotor, a mounting bracket disposed in the housing, and a motor control component mounted in the bracket. The bracket has a one-piece, resilient body that is elastically deformable from a relaxed position to an expanded position, an engaging structure mounted on opposing portions of the body to secure the motor control component to the body, and a mounting structure that mounts the body in the housing. The bracket is mounted in the housing so that a surface thereof is disposed adjacent and interacts with an inner surface of the housing to prevent deformation of the bracket, thereby locking the component to the bracket.

Abstract: A motor assembly has a lead guard detachably disposed within a housing adjacent a conductor receiving opening formed therein. The lead guard defines a space within the motor housing into which a conductor may be routed. The guard has a generally flat portion and an upstanding portion connected at an angle thereto that extends around three of four perimetral edges of the flat portion. A mounting mechanism is provided to position the lead guard within the housing of the motor. A guide mechanism for guiding conductors fed through the conductor receiving opening into the space defined by the lead guard may also be provided. This guide mechanism may be attached to or integrally molded with the generally flat portion of the lead guard and may include an angled/ramped portion, the edge of which abuts the inner surface of the housing below the conductor receiving opening to prevent conductors from entering the motor housing and coming in contact with rotating components disposed therein.

Abstract: A motor has a shell formed to include an edge defining an opening that is either U-shaped or rectangular. A reversible apparatus has segments for mounting an overload protector having first and second body portions within the opening in the motor shell. The apparatus has a first profile for mounting the overload protector within a U-shaped opening in a motor shell so as to restrict movement of the mounting apparatus and overload protector assembly relative to the motor shell, and a second profile for mounting the overload protector within a rectangular opening in a motor shell so as to restrict movement of the mounting apparatus and overload protector assembly relative to the motor shell. The apparatus also includes a first part extending generally parallel to, and across a first surface of, the overload protector, a second part extending generally perpendicular to the first part and across a second surface of the overload protector, and a third part extending generally perpendicular to the second part and across a third surface of the overload protector so as to secure the protector to the mounting apparatus. In one embodiment, tenons formed on end portions of the mounting apparatus engage mortises formed in the protector. A snap-fit arrangement may also be provided. Flexible or crushable beads may be provided to reduce the ingress of contaminants.

Abstract: A linear motion to rotary motion converter. A moving cam carrier reciprocates with respect to a rotating turntable having a plurality of fingers, preferably roller bearings, secured to and extending from the turntable parallel to the axis of rotation of the turntable and radially spaced from the axis. The number of rollers extending from the turntable determine the number of indexed stop positions of the turntable. The cam carrier has two movable cams and also has two retaining members that are attached to the cam carrier and respectively spaced from the movable cams so as to define channels, between the respective pairs of movable cams and retaining members, through which the roller bearing fingers of the turntable are constrained to move. The curvature and shape of the channels determines the velocity profile of the turntable as the cam carrier reciprocates. The invention also has lock positions at either end of the reciprocating cam carrier's movement in which the turntable is locked from rotation in either direction.

Abstract: A bushing for mounting an overload protector within an opening in a motor shell comprises segments adapted to be coaxially positioned around a portion of the overload protector. Mating features formed on the segments and protector restrict movement of the protector relative to the segments. Grooves formed on the segments secure the segments within the opening and restrict movement of the bushing and protector assembly relative to the structure. The bushing preferably comprises a pair of generally symmetrical segments connected together by an integrally formed hinge. The one-piece bushing is molded from a thermoplastic material, such as nylon. In one embodiment, the features which restrict axial movements of the overload protector relative to the segments are mating threads formed on a portion of the internal surfaces of the segments, and on opposing portions of the external surface of the protector. An additional structure is formed on the exterior surface of the segments to prevent rotational movement of the protector relative to the bushing. In an alternative embodiment, a structure is formed on and extends from the segments, and at least partially surrounds the overload protector to secure the protector against opposing portions of the bushing. A portion of each of the segments extends outwardly from the exterior surface of the motor shell so as to shield an exposed end portion of the overload protector from damage. A gasket may be mounted to this portion of the bushing to protect the overload assembly from dust and contamination.
