    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a plurality of detection electrodes, a first shield electrode and a second shield electrode. The plurality of detection electrodes are disposed in a peripheral area surrounding a display area configured to display an image. The first shield electrode is disposed on a first substrate and in at least the peripheral area, the first shield electrode having a predetermined fixed potential. The second shield electrode is disposed on a second substrate and in at least the peripheral area, the second shield electrode having the predetermined fixed potential. The first shield electrode and the second shield electrode are disposed, in a plan view, on a side of the display area with respect to each of the detection electrodes.

    Abstract: A technology which can improve the accuracy of touch detection is proposed. A display device includes: a touch panel including plural drive electrodes and plural detection electrodes; plural peripheral wirings; and plural switching elements each of which is disposed between a detection electrode and the corresponding peripheral wiring and that is connected to the detection electrode and the corresponding peripheral electrode. The touch panel executes detection by means of a mutual detection scheme using the plural drive electrodes and the plural detection electrodes. In a condition in which a predefined voltage is applied to the peripheral wirings when the plural switching elements are in an off-state, the voltages of the drive electrodes are changed, and subsequently a condition in which the changes of the voltages of the drive electrodes can be detected from the peripheral wirings is set, and the switching elements are turned from off to on.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate opposing the first substrate, a liquid crystal layer, at least one first detection electrode disposed in a display area and a plurality of second detection electrodes disposed in a peripheral area. In a display period in which images are displayed on the display area, a predetermined voltage is applied to the first detection electrode to drive the liquid crystal layer, and in a period in which the liquid crystal layer is not driven, the first detection electrode is set to a state of being not electrically connected to anywhere or being connected to a predetermined potential with an impedance of 50 kΩ or higher.

    Abstract: A technology that can make the touch detection results at corner portions proper is proposed. A display device includes a display panel, a sensor substrate formed on the display panel, and plural drive electrodes and plural detection electrodes extended in a direction so as to intersect with the plural drive electrodes on the sensor substrate. Among the plural drive electrodes, any of the lengths of N first drive electrodes (where N represents the number), which are continuously adjacent to one another, is shorter than any of the lengths of the other drive electrodes. An area where at least one drive electrode among the N first drive electrodes and at least one detection electrode overlap each other is larger than the area of an intersectional portion where any of the other drive electrodes and any of the other detection electrodes overlap each other.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a sealant, a first electrode, an insulating film and a second electrode. The sealant bonds the first substrate and the second substrate and is provided in a peripheral area surrounding a display area. The first electrode is provided on the first substrate in the peripheral area. The insulating film covers the first electrode. The second electrode is provided on the second substrate in the peripheral area. The sealant contains a conductive member. At least one of the first electrode and the second electrode includes a plurality of fine line portions in an area where the first electrode, the insulating film, the sealant, and the second electrode are overlapped in planar view.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate opposed to the first substrate, detection electrodes provided to surround a display area where an image is displayed, and a common electrode provided over an entire surface of the display area. The common electrode includes a first lead wiring line that extends to a peripheral area around the display area, along a boundary part between a first detection electrode, which is one of the detection electrodes, and a second detection electrode adjacent to the first detection electrode. A capacitance formed between the first lead wiring line and the first detection electrode is substantially equal to a capacitance formed between the first lead wiring line and the second detection electrode.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal layer provided between a first substrate and a second substrate, a detection electrode configured to detect an external proximity object, a plurality of pixels overlapping the detection electrode in plan view, and a detection circuit configured to detect a detected capacitance value generated in the detection electrode. A liquid crystal capacitance value generated between each of the pixels and the detection electrode includes a first capacitance value at a first gradation and a second capacitance value at a second gradation smaller than the first gradation, and the detection circuit corrects the detected capacitance value based on a ratio between number of pixels with the first gradation and number of pixels with the second gradation out of the pixels.
