Abstract: According to one embodiment, a pixel signal from a memory is supplied to an arbitrary pixel. A controller selectively switches a scanning frequency of common electrodes including a touch detection system, between a higher frequency and a lower frequency, and allocates banks in the memory, each bank having a capacity of a fixed number of items of the pixel data. The controller defines one unit including a group of lines of the pixel data, sets a line number of the one unit to the fixed number when the scanning frequency is the higher frequency, and sets the line number of the one unit to another line number which is greater than the fixed number when the scanning frequency is the lower frequency.

The control unit varies a length of a first period, a length of a second period, or both in display periods of images of two frames that are displayed consecutively, the first period being a period in which the display processing is performed once, the second period being a period in which the touch detection processing is performed once.

Abstract: A display device with a touch detection function includes a substrate, pixel electrodes arranged in a matrix in a display region on a plane parallel to the substrate, a display function layer having a function to display the image in the display region, drive electrodes provided facing the pixel electrodes, touch detection electrodes that form electrostatic capacitance between there and the drive electrodes, a control unit that generates a control signal to switch between a display operation period for applying a display signal between the pixel and drive electrodes and a display stop period for stopping the display operation. The control unit generates first and second control signals respectively having a first frequency and a second frequency that is different from the first frequency, and has first and second operation modes respectively including a period controlled by the first control signal and a period controlled by the second control signal.
