The first substrate has a first projection in which a first part extending along a side of the first substrate in the peripheral part of the first substrate and a second part extending from the first part towards an edge of the first substrate are formed. Width of a cross section of the first projection is smaller on its tip end's side than on the first substrate's side. The second substrate has a second projection extending along a side of the second substrate in the peripheral part of the second substrate. Width of a cross section of the second projection is smaller on its tip end's side than on the second substrate's side. The second part of the first projection faces the second projection. The seal member exists between the first projection and the second projection.

According to one embodiment, the liquid crystal material processing device includes a syringe containing contents composed of a liquid crystal material and the like, having a distal end portion constituting a first discharge pipe, an agitation mechanism agitating the contents of the syringe, a vacuum chamber having a second discharge pipe penetrating the bottom to connect to the first discharge pipe of the syringe. The agitation mechanism agitates the liquid crystal material and the pure water in the syringe, and purifies the liquid crystal material by causing water-soluble impurities to transfer to the pure water. The agitation mechanism agitates the liquid crystal material remaining in the syringe after the water layer has been discharged. The evacuation mechanism evacuates the vacuum chamber and causes the liquid crystal material to be degassed while the remaining liquid crystal material is agitated.
Abstract:
When an alignment film is applied to the whole surface of a substrate, adhesion intensity between a sealing material and the alignment film is further deteriorated. A display device includes an array substrate having a first alignment film, a counter substrate having a second alignment film, a liquid crystal layer in contact with the first alignment film and the second alignment film, and a sealing material for bonding the first alignment film and the second alignment film together, wherein the sealing material is provided with a portion adapted to increase the area of the adhered portion.
