Abstract: A system and method of determining a topology of devices in an Ethernet network of a building management system (BMS). The method includes discovering a number and identification of devices within the Ethernet ring. The method further includes, for each device discovered in the Ethernet ring, disabling an Ethernet port of one of the device in the Ethernet ring; broadcasting a ring port request onto the Ethernet ring; receiving a ring port response from each of the devices having received the ring port request; and incrementing a count associated with each device based on receiving a ring port response from the device. The method then repeats the above steps until each device in the Ethernet ring has had an Ethernet port disabled. The method further includes determining the topology of the devices in the Ethernet ring by ordering the devices in the Ethernet ring based on the value of the count associated with each device.

Abstract: A method for determining a topology of an Ethernet ring having a plurality of devices includes disabling a first port of a first device of the plurality of devices, detecting a terminated link at a first port of a second device of the plurality of devices, sending a message to a ring topology generator indicating that the first port of the second device is connected to a previous device relative to the second device, and generating the topology of the Ethernet ring based on (1) the message indicating that the first port of the second device is connected to the previous device relative to the second device and (2) an indication that the first device is the previous device relative to the second device.

Abstract: A network system for interconnecting an operational technology (OT) network and an information technology (IT) network in a building. The network system includes an OT network, an IT network, and a network tool. The network tool is configured to obtain a current network configuration of a plurality of OT network switches in an OT network. Abstract: Systems and methods for automatically configuring an Internet Protocol (IP) network are provided. The system can receive inputs including information specific to a building automation system (BAS) and information specific to the IP network. The system can identify network controllers and BAS devices supervised by the network controllers. The system can allocate BAS devices supervised by the network controllers to subnets and access switches. The system can consolidate two or more subnets under the same switch when determining that the two or more subnets can be consolidated under the same switch. The system can perform IP planning for the IP network and can generate a tailored configuration file for each access switch and aggregation switch in the IP network.
