Abstract: A battery grid is disclosed. The battery grid includes a pattern of grid wires. The pattern includes a grid wire having a first segment with a first corrosion resistance and a second segment with a second corrosion resistance which is less than the first corrosion resistance. The second segment corrodes at a rate which is faster than the corrosion rate of the first segment so as to dynamically release internal stress and control grid growth of the battery grid during its service life. A battery includes said grid and a method of forming said grid are also disclosed.

Abstract: A battery monitoring network is provided that includes a battery. The battery monitoring network also includes a battery monitoring system integrated within the battery. The battery monitoring system includes a diagnostic system configured to monitor or to store one or more battery parameters of the battery. Additionally, the battery monitoring system includes a transmitter configured to transmit data indicative of the one or more battery parameters of the battery. Furthermore, battery monitoring network includes a cloud-based computing network having a remote server configured to receive the data indicative of the one or more battery parameters of the battery. Moreover, the cloud-based computing network is configured to interface with a plurality of battery monitoring systems, and includes an internet connection.

Abstract: An electrode assembly for a high cycling battery is disclosed. The electrode assembly includes a separator envelope comprising a backweb of material. The backweb has opposing sides, a contact area including a plurality of vertical, continuous major ribs of substantially the same height spaced across the contact area and projecting from one of the opposing sides forming acid conduits therebetween. A rim area is provided on each respective end of the contact area and has a plurality of vertical shoulder ribs. The backweb of material is folded and each rim area, aligned by the folding of the backweb, at least partially secured to itself to form the separator envelope. A negative electrode is received in the separator envelope and a positive electrode is positioned adjacent to the negative electrode, separated from the negative electrode by the separator envelope. A separator and plate assembly and a lead-acid battery are also disclosed.
