The system--which works in association with a multipurpose computer--includes a discrete article, such as an advertising specialty like a mouse pad, having facilities to receive a user input and, in turn, generate a unique predetermined signal based on the input. The system further includes software for configuring the computer to respond to each unique predetermined signal by executing one or more commands, as selected and stored within the software. Each configuration can be dynamically locked such that the commands to be executed upon the unique input are not alterable without an authorization mechanism, such as a password. The software also responds to receipt of one of the unique predetermined signals by executing the commands associated with the received signal. A method for performing same is also disclosed. This system and method have particular application in advertising a business on the Internet, facilitating access to various locations within the domain of an Internet content provider and in managing a computer network.

    摘要: Dynamically isolating application servers, wherein only active application servers are indicated to client applications to prevent access to inactive application servers by the client applications. A central server of a distributed system determines a state of application servers in a system, and generates a list of application servers that includes all application servers of the system including an indication of the state of the application servers. The central server also generates a filtered list of application servers that excludes inactive application servers or application servers in an inactive mode. The filtered list is passed to client applications, which enables the client applications to only access the active application servers, but not access the inactive application servers.

According to said process data packets are transmitted between the base station and the mobile stations within transmission phases. The data packets are formed with the data of a data stream and a received data stream is formed with the received data packets. The start and the end of each data packet forming operation is each time triggered by the start signals.
