Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a sheet conveyance portion, a recording portion, a sheet detection portion, and a control portion. In a duplex printing including a first and a second process of printing on a first surface and a second surface of the sheet, in the first process, the control portion calculates a center position of the sheet based on an edge position of the sheet on one side in the width direction and size information of the sheet, prints a first image on the first surface such that the first image is centered on the center position calculated, and prints a reference marker on the first surface. In the second process, the control portion calculates a correction magnification ratio based on a difference between a reading position and the printing position of the reference marker, and corrects a size and a printing position of a second image.

Abstract: A liquid surface detector includes an electrode pad, a coil, a memory, and a detection control circuit. The electrode pad is attached to an outer side surface of a tank of the image forming apparatus. The coil is connected to the electrode pad. The memory stores initial values. The detection control circuit determines a capacitance (first capacitance) of a first resonance circuit including the coil and the tank with the electrode pad. When determining a liquid surface level value, the detection control circuit subtracts an error value from the first capacitance so as to determine a first corrected capacitance, and determines the liquid surface level value based on the first corrected capacitance and the initial value.

Abstract: An image reading apparatus includes an imaging unit and a noise detecting unit. The imaging unit includes a valid pixel group constituted of imaging elements arranged in one row in a main-scanning direction valid for reading a document image and dummy pixel groups constituted of imaging elements arranged on both sides of the valid pixel group invalid for reading the document image. The imaging unit reads each line of the document image while moving relatively to a sub-scanning direction. The noise detecting unit detects a noise mixing into the line read by the imaging unit based on an image signal captured by the dummy pixel group. The dummy pixel group receives a predetermined luminescence level of light. The noise detecting unit detects the noise mixing into the line when a pixel value output from the dummy pixel group varies to exceed a predetermined value.

Abstract: An image reading apparatus includes: a light amount adjustment portion which performs light amount adjustment on a light source such that the maximum value of the analog output of an image sensor does not exceed the upper limit value of an input voltage range of an A/D conversion portion but approaches the upper limit value; a temperature sensor which measures a temperature; and a storage portion which stores a temperature at the time of the light amount adjustment. When an absolute value of a temperature difference between a temperature stored in the storage portion and the current temperature is less than a threshold value, the light amount adjustment portion does not perform the light amount adjustment whereas when the absolute value is equal to or more than the threshold value, the light amount adjustment portion performs the light amount adjustment.
