Abstract: An anti-pinch shield for a motor vehicle having a front passenger swing door a rear passenger swing door includes a body having a mount surface configured for attachment to at least one of a B-pillar of the motor vehicle, between a trailing rear edge of the front passenger swing door and a leading front edge of a rear passenger swing door, and an A-pillar of the motor vehicle, between the leading front edge of the front passenger swing door and an adjacent front vehicle panel. The body has a non-planar surface facing opposite said mount surface. The non-planar surface has a contour that matches the arc of travel of a respective one of the leading front edge of the rear passenger swing door and the leading front edge of the front passenger swing door.

Abstract: A motor control system for controlling a brushless electric motor of a power operated actuator of a closure panel of a vehicle and method of operating the control system are provided. The control system includes a vector control system configured to receive a torque current based on a measured angular velocity of the motor and current of each of the phases and determine corresponding stationary reference frame voltages. The vector control system outputs pulse width modulation signals to the motor. A vector torque current limiter couples to the vector control system and the motor and is configured to determine the torque current drawn, receive the measured angular velocity and determine whether there is a reduction of the measured angular velocity and detects a pinch event and reduces the torque current in response to determining there is a reduction of the measured angular velocity of the brushless electric motor.

Abstract: A door system, presenter assembly and method for controlling movement of a motor vehicle closure panel between a closed position, a presented position and an open position are provided. Presenter assembly includes an electric motor having a drive shaft that extends along a drive shaft axis. A clutch assembly has an engaged state when electric motor is energized and a disengaged state when electric motor is de-energized. A presenter unit has a presenter lead screw and an extensible member configured for movement between a retracted position corresponding to the closed position and an extended position corresponding to the presented position. Extensible member is biased toward the retracted position by a presenter biasing member. Presenter lead screw is rotatably driven by the output member when electric motor is energized and when clutch assembly is in the engaged state to move the extensible member against the bias of the presenter biasing member to the extended position. Extensible member is automatically biased from the extended position to the retracted position by the presenter biasing member when the electric motor is de-energized and when the clutch assembly is in the disengaged state.

Abstract: A power drive mechanism includes an electric motor configured to rotate a drive member, a housing having an inner wall bounding a cavity, and an extensible actuation member linearly moveable in a first direction to move a vehicle swing door in an opening direction and in a second direction to move the vehicle swing door in a closing direction. A clutch/brake assembly is disposed in the cavity of the housing. The clutch/brake assembly operably connects the drive member with the extensible actuation member. The clutch/brake assembly is moveable from a disengaged state, whereat the extensible actuation member is inhibited from moving relative to the housing, to an engaged state, whereat the extensible actuation member moves relative to the housing. The clutch/brake assembly moves mechanically from the engaged state to the disengaged state in response to the electric motor changing from the energized state to the de-energized state.
