Abstract: Systems and methods for determining available current for a battery in a portable electronic device. One method includes, in response to determining that a received current level of an auxiliary supply rail is equal to or below a predetermined threshold, acquiring a plurality of unloaded voltages for the battery and calculating an unloaded voltage based on the unloaded voltages. The method includes activating a switchable load coupled between the battery and ground, acquiring a plurality of loaded voltages for the battery, and calculating a loaded voltage based on the loaded voltages. The method includes calculating an impedance for the battery based on the unloaded and loaded voltages and an impedance for the switchable load. The method includes determining a current budget based on the impedance, a minimum operating voltage, and a maximum allowable current draw, and adjusting an operating parameter of the portable electronic device based on the current budget.

Abstract: A method and device for thermal mitigation. The communications device including a first radio communications subsystem configured to operate according to a first radio communications protocol and a second radio communications subsystem configured to operate according to a second radio communications protocol. The first radio communications subsystem includes a temperature sensor and an electronic processor configured to determine, via the temperature sensor, a first temperature indicative of a temperature of the second radio communications subsystem, compare the first temperature to at least one predetermined temperature threshold, and deactivate the second radio communications subsystem when the first temperature exceeds a predetermined temperature threshold of the at least one predetermined temperature threshold.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for collaboration among two-way radio devices allows a portable two-way radio device and a mobile two-way radio device to each enter into a collaboration mode while the are paired with each other over a short range wireless radio network. While in the collaboration mode, when the user keys the portable two-way radio device audio is routed from the portable two-way radio device to the mobile two-way radio device over the short range wireless network and the mobile two-way radio device transmits the audio on behalf of the portable two-way radio device.
