摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image bearer, a charging device that charges a surface of the image bearer, a latent image forming device that forms a latent image on the image bearer, a developing device that develops the latent image on the image bearer with a spherical toner into a toner image, a transfer device that transfers the toner image to a transfer material, and a cleaning device that removes the spherical toner remaining on the image bearer after the toner image is transferred to the transfer material. The cleaning device including a cleaning roller that removes the spherical toner on the image bearer while rotating and contacting the image bearer and which has a greater coefficient of static friction than the surface of the image bearer. An electric field is formed between the cleaning member and the image bearer by applying a voltage to the cleaning member so that the spherical toner adhered onto the image bearer is electrostatically attracted to the cleaning member. The cleaning member may also include a brush roller having bristles planted in a specific configuration.

摘要： A cleaning device of the present invention is configured to remove toner left on an image carrier after the transfer of a toner image from the image carrier to a recording medium. A rotatable cleaning roller contacts the image carrier for removing the toner left on the image carrier. A rotatable brush roller is positioned upstream of the cleaning roller in the direction of rotation of the image carrier and rubs against the surface of the image carrier and that of the cleaning roller. The cleaning device is free from defective cleaning despite the use of spherical, dry toner grains capable of forming high-quality toner images.

摘要： An image forming apparatus including an image carrier, a charger, an electrostatic latent image forming member, a developing member, a transferor, and a cleaning device. The electrostatic latent image forming member forms an electrostatic latent image on a surface of the image carrier charged by the charger. The developing member develops the electrostatic latent image formed on the surface of the image carrier with toner particles to form a toner image. The transferor transfers the toner image formed on the surface of the image carrier onto a recording medium. The cleaning device includes a fine particle supplier and an electrostatic cleaning mechanism. The fine particle supplier supplies fine particles onto the surface of the image carrier while an image forming operation is not performed. The electrostatic cleaning mechanism electrostatically removes a foreign substance adhered to the supplied fine particles from the surface of the image carrier.

The cleaning nip is formed by offsetting a center of the cleaning nip upstream from a center of the belt wound area of the endless belt in the belt moving direction and by at least contacting the rotary cleaning member in a range from the belt wound area to a tensioned belt area located upstream from the belt wound area in the belt moving direction.

摘要： A cleaning device includes a cleaning member, a collection member, an electrical field generator, and a separation member. The cleaning member has a surface capable of moving while contacting a surface of a cleaning target to remove toner on the surface of the cleaning target. The collection member has a surface capable of moving while contacting the surface of the cleaning member to collect the toner on the surface of the cleaning member. The electrical field generator generates an electrical field to move the toner from the cleaning member to the collection member. The separation member contacts the surface of the collection member to separate the toner on the surface of the collection member. The collection member has a centerline average surface roughness of not more than 0.1 μm and shows a surface hardness rank of B or higher in a steel-wool scratch test.
