Abstract: An electrode foil for an electrolytic capacitor includes a metal foil that includes a porous portion and a core portion continuous to the porous portion. The metal foil has a main surface in which pores in the porous portion are open. The porous portion includes a plurality of recessed portions that are open in the main surface and distributed in a dot pattern in an in-plane direction of the metal foil. The pores in the porous portion have an opening diameter smaller than 2 μm, recessed portions that are adjacent to each other have an opening diameter D1 μm and an opening diameter D2 μm, respectively, and are spaced apart from each other by a distance L μm, and the opening diameter D1 and the distance L satisfy 2≤D1 and 2≤L/D1≤50. The opening diameter D2 and the distance L satisfy 2≤D2 and 2≤L/D2≤50.

Abstract: An electrode foil for an electrolytic capacitor contains a valve metal, and includes a core portion, and a porous portion continuous with the core portion. The porous portion has a thickness T μm, and includes an inner layer region located on the core portion side, and a surface layer region located opposite to the core portion. The surface layer region is a region within a distance T/4 from an outer surface of the porous portion, and the inner layer region is a region within a distance T/4 from a boundary of the porous portion with the core portion. An average size D1 nm of pores in the surface layer region is smaller than an average size D2 nm of pores in the inner layer region.

Abstract: A method for producing an electrode foil for electrolytic capacitor use includes: preparing a raw material foil; and etching the raw material foil. The raw material foil contains a valve metal, and has a plurality of recesses that open on a main surface thereof and that are arranged to be distributed in a dot-like manner in the direction of the main surface. The opening diameter of the recesses is 2 μm or more.

Abstract: An electrode foil for an electrolytic capacitor including a metal porous portion, and a metal core portion continuous to the metal porous portion. When the metal porous portion is equally divided in three in a thickness direction of the metal porous portion into a first region, a second region, and a third region sequentially from the metal core portion side, the first region has a porosity P1, the second region has a porosity P2, and the third region has a porosity P3, satisfying P1
