    Abstract: In one embodiment, a method is disclosed for providing paging optimization using RIC/ORAN in 5G and 4G Systems, the method comprising: creating, by the RIC, mobility context and updating the mobility context based on UEs mobility information received from the CUs and eNBs; pushing, by the RIC, the policy to connected O-CUs/O-eNBs to forward paging whenever received from AMF/MME; buffering, by the O-CU/O-eNB buffers, the paging message, starting a timer and forwarding the paging message to RIC; performing, by the RIC, an STMSI lookup and if the RIC finds the UE context, identifying a target O-CU/target O-eNB and sending the corresponding DU/sectors where paging needs to be sent based on a calculated UE location; sending, by the targeted O-CU/O-CUs/O-eNBs, stage 1 paging to the DU/sectors; intimating, by the O-CU/O-eNB, the RIC about successful paging and deleting the buffered paging; notifying, by the RIC, other O-CUs/O-eNBs for paging cancellation so that other O-CUs/O-eNBs discard the buffered paging message; and continuing, by the O-CU/O-eNB, with normal paging when no paging cancellation is received from the RIC.

    Abstract: A method is disclosed of providing UE mobility context creation at RIC/ORAN in 4G and 5G systems, comprising: downloading, by a non RT RIC, a policy to connected centralized units (CUs) that whenever a User Equipment (UE) attaches to a CU and the UE's location changes, the Non-RT RIC be updated about UE's mobility; allocating, by the Non RT RIC, a fresh UE ID and creating a context with parameters including Current Location, UE ID allotted by RIC, Current CRNTI, and cell information; sending, by the Non RT RIC, the fresh UE ID to the CU that the CU maintains as part of the UE context information; determining whenever the UE moves within the CU served DUs, and updating the Non-RT RIC about UEs mobility using RIC_UEID as the key; sending, by the target CU once the UE may be successfully transferred to target CU, the update to RIC with RIC_UEID; updating, by the RIC, the UE context with the provided details; using the UE context updated on every UE movement to calculate the UE's trajectory; determining the UE may be moving to an impacted region; and triggering a corresponding O-RAN Central Unit (O-CU)/O-RAN eNodeB (O-eNB) to alert the UE using a public warning system (PWS) message.

    Abstract: A mechanism is disclosed for establishing X2 connection between two eNB's (S1 connected to different MME's) by making use of the S10 interface between two MME's. During the Inter MME Handovers, instead of doing an S1 Handover, we leverage the advantages of the X2 interface between two eNB's and offload the Handover load from the EPC core and will concentrate that on the individual eNB's across which the handover needs to be performed, through X2 interface. Additionally, through these X2 connections we will be able to utilize the load management and the mobility parameters management functions of the x2 interface as well.

    Abstract: This invention provides warning messages for emergency services in a wireless network. In one embodiment, a method of providing public messages for emergency services includes sending, by a Core Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF), a warning message to a first node over a first interface; broadcasting, by the first node, the warning message to all User Equipments (UEs) in the area; sending, by the first node, a warning response message to the AMF; sending, by the first node, the warning message to at least one other node connected over a second interface to the first node; and broadcasting, by the at least one other node, the warning message to all UEs in their respective area and sending a warning message response back to the first node over the second interface.
