Abstract:
A lighting system includes a pivot bracket that includes a first arm, a second arm, and a connector band that couples both the arms. The pivot bracket is pivotably coupled to a trim assembly at the first end of each arm such that the pivot bracket is pivotable with respect to the trim assembly about a first axis of rotation defined by and axially passing through a first aperture of each arm located at the respective arm's first end. Further, the pivot bracket is pivotably coupled to a socket bracket at an opposite second end of each arm such that the socket bracket is pivotable with respect to the pivot bracket about a second axis of rotation defined by and axially passing through a second aperture of each arm located at the respective arm's second end. Further, the lighting system includes a light source coupled to the socket bracket.
Abstract:
A heat sink for an outdoor lighting fixture includes a top portion and a skirt portion. The skirt portion extends down from an outer perimeter of the top portion. The top portion includes an elevated portion and a transition portion surrounding the elevated portion. The elevated portion and the transition portion define a cavity. The top portion further includes a planar portion surrounding the transition portion. The elevated portion is elevated above the planar portion.
Abstract:
A lighting structure includes a junction box that has a cavity, and a mounting plate that has an inner section and a perimeter section. The junction box is attached to the mounting plate, and the mounting plate has a wire opening therethrough for routing an electrical wire from the junction box to a light source. The perimeter section of the mounting place is outside the junction box.
Abstract:
A modular lighting system may include a support structure, a plurality of heat sink modules physically supported by the support structure, and one or more light source modules coupled to the plurality of heat sink modules. The plurality of heat sink modules may be arranged in a modular manner such that the heat sink modules in the modular lighting system is variable, and each heat sink module may be an integral molded structure defining at least one opening or passageway.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for reducing glare or pixilation associated with LEDs are disclosed. The disclosure relates to a light module that includes a cover panel that reduces contrast in the light emitted by LEDs. The cover panel can be mounted on a substrate which can include a plurality of LEDs. Apertures in the cover panel are aligned each of the LEDs and any optic that may be disposed over each LED. A first portion of the light emitted from the LEDs passes through the optic only and into the environment to be illuminated. A second portion of the light emitted from the LEDs passes through both the optic and the cover panel before passing into the environment to be illuminated. The cover panel can be diffuse and can include various characteristics including textures, objects, and angled surfaces that assist in scattering light.
Abstract:
A light module includes a cover, a circuit board, a gasket, a bottom covering, and an optional optic assembly. The cover includes an inner and an outer wall extending outwardly from the cover, where the outer wall surrounds the inner wall and forms a groove therebetween. The circuit board is positioned within the inner wall's profile and includes a plurality of LEDs. The gasket is disposed within the groove. The bottom covering is positioned adjacent to the circuit board and is coupled to the cover. The gasket provides a seal between the cover and the bottom covering. The optic assembly is disposed within the inner wall's profile and between the cover and the circuit board. The optic assembly includes one or more apertures and one or more optics disposed around at least some of the apertures. Each optic is aligned with one or more LEDs.
Abstract:
A heat sink module is provided for transferring heat from at least one light source in a modular lighting system. The heat sink module may include an integral molded body defining: at least one heat transfer element extending generally in a first direction; at least one molded wiring channel configured for routing wiring to the at least one light source; and at least one air flow opening configured to allow ambient air flow through the heat sink body.
Abstract:
A multi-functional heat sink includes a top portion and a skirt portion extending down from the top portion. When a light source is attached to the top portion on an underside of the multi-functional heat sink, the skirt portion reduces risk of rain water from reaching the light source and prevents light emitted by the light source from exiting the multi-functional heat sink in an upward direction. The multi-functional heat sink is made from sheet metal.

Abstract:
A friction clip includes a coupling portion having a rotating coupling element, a middle portion adjacent the coupling portion, and an end portion adjacent the middle portion and opposite the coupling portion. The middle portion includes a bent out tab having a first interference edge configured to engage an internal wall of a first canister having a first diameter and the end portion includes a second interference edge configured to engage an internal wall of a second canister having a second diameter. Alternatively, a multi-part friction clip includes a first member that is couplable to a light module, and a second member that is removably couplable to the first member. The second member includes a coupling portion configured to removably engage with the first member, a middle portion having a bent out tab that includes a first interference edge, and an end portion that includes a second interference edge.
