Abstract: 994, 272. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. LARCO CO. Inc. March 30, 1962 [April 7, 1961], No. 12249/62. Heading G3P. A fluid pressure reducing valve has a housing provided with inlet and outlet passages 4, 5 and an interposed valve seat 7, a closure member 8 cooperating with the seat and having a stem 10, a guide 11 for the stem positioned on the downstream side of the seat with clearance space between the guide and stem through which fluid in the outlet passage may act on one side of a diaphragm 12 operable by differential pressures to control the position of the closure member, and a deflector 17 unattached to and encircling the valve stem, the portion of the deflector facing upstream encircling the stem closely enough to deflect the greater portion of the fluid impinging on the deflector and the deflector having pressure balancing openings 17a, whereby any small portion of the velocity componant of the fluid which enters the deflector will have no effect upon the operation of the diaphragm. The space beneath the diaphragm 12 is connected by pipes to the outlet passage 5 and the pressure within the space is controlled by a pilot valve in the bonnet 3.
