Abstract: Impact-resistant polymers having low permeability to gases and vapors are prepared by polymerizing acrylonitrile with an alphaolefin such as isobutylene, at least one member selected from the group consisting of an acrylic ester, a methacrylic ester, methacrylonitrile, an acrylamide, and a vinyl ester, and optionally another vinyl monomer component such as a vinyl aromatic monomer in an aqueous medium in the presence of a diene rubber.
