Abstract: A pixel includes a first doped region of a first conductivity type and a second doped region of a second conductivity type. The first doped region includes first and second layers forming a heterojunction. A dopant concentration of the first layer is greater than a dopant concentration of the second layer. The first layer is made of a semiconductor material and the second layer includes quantum dots. The second doped region is in contact with the second layer, with the first layer being laterally surrounded by an insulated conductive wall that is biased to a negative voltage.

Abstract: A device includes an assembly of pixels with a first pixel generating an event-based data element and a second pixel generating a light intensity data element. Each first and second pixel includes a portion of a layer that forms a photodiode. A first integrated circuit chip includes a first substrate and a first interconnection network, and a second integrated circuit chip includes a second substrate and a second interconnection network. The first and second integrated circuit chips are attached to each other by the first and second interconnection networks. The layer with the photodiodes is located on a first surface of the second substrate opposite to a second surface of the second substrate having the second interconnection network located thereon.

Abstract: An example apparatus, method, and computer program product for preserving privacy while capturing imagery data in a surveillance setting are provided. In some embodiments, the example apparatus includes an event-based capture mechanism and a standard illuminance capture mechanism, electrically connected to a controller. The event-based capture mechanism is configured to generate an event-based image, while the standard illuminance capture mechanism is configured to generate a standard illuminance image. The controller includes program code configured to cause the controller to receive, from the event-based capture mechanism, the event-based image, detect an object of interest in the event-based image, activate the standard illuminance capture mechanism based at least in part on a classification of the object of interest, and receive, from the standard illuminance capture mechanism, a standard illuminance image.
