    Abstract: According to an embodiment of the disclosure, an electronic device comprises: a plurality of light emitting units spaced apart from each other to form a ring shape on a printed circuit board; at least one light receiving unit disposed between the plurality of light emitting units; and a processor configured to analyze light generated from the light emitting units and incident to the light receiving unit, wherein a separation distance between each of the plurality of light emitting units and the at least one light receiving unit is such that the at least one light receiving unit is configured to receive reflected light from light emitted at a beam angle from each of the plurality of light emitting units.

    Abstract: Various embodiments provide an electronic device and a method, the device comprising: a capacitive sensor, a heart rate sensor including at least one light-emitting unit, a first light receiving unit, and a second light receiving unit; and a processor, wherein the processor is configured to: measure capacitance for a user wearing the electronic device by using the capacitive sensor; emit light by using the light-emitting unit according to the capacitance; measure a first amount of light which is said light reflected by the user's body tissue through the first light receiving unit, and a second amount of light which is said light reflected by the body tissue through the second light receiving unit; determine that the electronic device is worn by the user when at least one amount of light of the first amount of light and the second amount of light satisfies an amount of light in a specified range; and determine that the electronic device is detached from the user when the first amount of light and the second amount of light do not satisfy the amount of light in the specified range. Also, other embodiments are possible.

    Abstract: An electronic device according to various embodiments of the present invention may comprise: at least one electrode having conductivity; a capacitance sensor, at least one switch electrically connected between the at least one electrode and the capacitance sensor, and capable of selectively connecting the at least one electrode and the capacitance sensor; and a control circuit, wherein the control circuit measures a first capacitance value by using the capacitance sensor in a state where the at least one switch is open, measures a second capacitance value corresponding to an external object contacting the at least one electrode, by using the capacitance sensor in a state where the at least one switch is connected, corrects the second capacitance value by using the first capacitance value, and determines the corrected second capacitance value as a capacitance value for the external object. Various other embodiments are possible.
