摘要: Apparatus and methods consistent with the present invention provide for identifying and processing mail using an identification code on a mailpiece as a redundant source of identification information in a mail sorting system. In one embodiment, this information is stored in a temporary database and used for the identification and processing of mail in a Remote Bar Code System (RBCS). In this embodiment, the identification code enables the automation of mail sorting and other processing tasks, reducing costs and delays in mail delivery services. In another embodiment, the identification and processing of mail occurs in an Identification Code Sorting (ICS) system. In this embodiment, a long-term database allows for mail sorting and other processing tasks on a national or global level.

摘要: A data card management system that consolidates and manages use of a plurality of single-function data cards using one, portable multifunction data card. The cardholder accesses the secure, internet-based system using a computer with access to the Internet. Once accessed, the user completes: (1) account registration; (2) card data collection from the user's single-function data cards; (3) profile creation defining how collected card data will be used; and (4) multifunction card data card activation choosing personalized features, which includes profiles, to be saved on the card subsequently issued to the user. Several multifunction data cards can be issued to one user account with access to the account's card data being dependent upon profiles stored on that card. The system also has the ability to assists the user in typical personal tasks, such as budgeting using a budget profile, and generating reports tracking the use of the multifunction data card.

摘要: The present invention provides an electrical isolation apparatus having independently controllable contactors. The isolation apparatus includes a contactor for each phase or pole of an electrical device as well as each phase or pole of a load. Each contactor is constructed so that each includes multiple contact assemblies that may be independently controlled to open and close. Moreover, the contactors within a single contactor assembly or housing can be independently controlled so that the contacts of one contactor can be opened without opening the contacts of the other contactors in the contactor assembly. Additionally, the contactors are constructed and controlled such that a single line side contactor and a single load contactor open simultaneously when an open circuit condition is desired.

摘要: A wire grid polarizer may be fabricated by forming plurality of substantially-straight metallic lines of predetermined periodicity Λ on a thin film substrate A plurality of substantially straight nanometer-scale periodic surface relief structures is created on a surface of the substrate. The periodic surface relief structures cover a region greater than about 4 centimeters in length and greater than about 4 centimeters in width, wherein the periodicity Λ is between about 10 nanometers and about 500 nanometers. One or more layers of material are formed on the periodic relief structures. The one or more layers include one or more conductor materials that form the plurality of substantially straight metallic lines over a region of the substrate greater than about 4 centimeters in length and greater than about 4 centimeters in width.
