The thermoplastic composition contains a silicon compound, e.g., silicon dioxide, having an average particle diameter of 0.001 &mgr;m to 10 &mgr;m. The silicon compound is present in the composition in an amount of 0.01 to 30 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the thermoplastic polycarbonate. Also describe are shaped articles, e.g., data technology housing components, made from the thermoplastic polycarbonate composition of the present invention.

The composition offers flame resistance for molded parts having small wall thickness, improved rigidity and resistance to stress cracking. The talc has MgO content of 30.5 to 32 wt. %, SiO2 content of 60 to 62.5 wt. % and Al2O3 content lower than 0.7 wt. % and d50 value less than or equal to 2.5 &mgr;m.
