摘要： An image trimming device involves: extracting a region of interest from an original image; detecting a set of features for each region of interest; determining whether each region of interest should be placed inside or outside a trimming frame based on the set of features and setting the trimming frame in the image; extracting an image inside the trimming frame; determining a positional relationship between each region of interest and the trimming frame and increasing or decreasing probability of each region of interest to be placed inside the trimming frame depending on if the region has a set of features similar to that of another region of interest previously placed inside the trimming frame or previously placed outside the trimming frame.

摘要： A region of interest extracting section automatically extracts regions of interest from within original images by obtaining the degree by which the features of portions within the original images differ from the features of surrounding portions, based on the colors of the original images, brightnesses of the original images, and the orientations of linear components that appear in the original images. A partial image generating section generates partial images by cutting out images of predetermined sizes that include the regions of interest, which are extracted by the region of interest extracting section, from the original images. The generated partial images are displayed.

The apparatus and method process the image data of the original image by continuous filtering with at least two edge preserving smoothing filters having different characteristics to generate blurred image data which represents a blurred image of the original image, and process the image data of the original image by compressing the dynamic range of the original image based on the blurred image data. The apparatus includes a blurred image generating unit for generating the blurred image data and having the at least two edge preserving smoothing filters, and a processing unit for compressing the dynamic range of the original image.
