摘要: An apparatus and method for charging a melting furnace having a charging opening in its sidewall, in which a closed housing contains a pivotally mounted receiving pan having a discharge chute on one side thereof, the discharge chute adapted to extend into the charging opening in the furnace sidewall; and means for moving the charging apparatus into the charging opening of the furnace and removing the apparatus to a position remote therefrom. A method for feeding the furnace over a predefined area, and continuously feeding the furnace during all phases of operation, including slagging and tapping, is also disclosed.

摘要: The present invention relates to a melting device comprising a loading shaft (13, 13a) and a tilting device (4) by means of which a furnace vessel (1) with a furnace vessel cover (10) can be tilted into different tilt positions around a tilt axis (5a), wherein the furnace vessel sealing region is formed as a convex, cylindrical mantel section shaped, surface, and the shaft sealing region of the loading shaft (13, 13a) is formed as a complementary concave, cylindrical mantel section shaped, sealing surface, such that sections of the sealing surfaces of the two sealing regions lie mutually opposite one another in the different tilt positions of the tilting device (4) such that the transition region between the loading shaft (13, 13a) and the furnace vessel (1) is at least substantially sealed in all tilt positions of the furnace vessel (1), and to a melting method, in which a bunker container (17, 17a) with charging material (39, 40, 41) is placed in front of the loading shaft (13, 13a) on the loading side, wherein over the further course of this method, the charging material (39, 40, 41) is preheated in the bunker container (17) by furnace gas, and after further transport of this charging material (39, 40, 41) from the bunker container (17, 17a) into the loading shaft (13), this charging material (39, 40, 41) is further preheated in the loading shaft (13) by furnace gas.

摘要: Apparatus for a fully automated magnesium melt system. Raw magnesium ingots are moved through and controllably heated in a preheater chamber before they are introduced into a melt cell. A probe monitors the metal level and a control unit causes ingot charging as determined by a process level set point or temperature overshoot. There are two zones of heating in the melt cell with each zone supplied by its own 3 phase zero cross fired silicon controlled rectifier and firing board which is gated by a gating signal. This controls how much the SCR's are allowed to conduct. The amount of error between the metal bath set point and the actual metal bath temperature automatically determines how much of the 4-20 mA gating signal is required to maintain the set metal bath temperature. Liquid magnesium is transferred from the melt cell to a die cast machine by a siphon transfer tube which has two sets of electrical heating elements. A programmable logic controller, with suitable programming, controls the temperature at all times of the molten magnesium and preheating of the ingots. This PLC and other monitoring or remotely located computers provide complete process control and information.

The movable upper section can be raised and lowered relative to the level of molten zinc in the reservoir and thereby insure maximum heating efficiency of the zinc. In a preferred imbodiment the pre-heaters and immersion burners are gas fired.

摘要: Apparatus for heat treating a heat treatable material including a housing having an upper opening for receiving a heat treatable material at a first temperature, a lower opening, and a chamber therebetween for heating the heat treatable material to a second temperature higher than the first temperature as the heat treatable material moves through the chamber from the upper to the lower opening. A gas supply assembly is operatively engaged to the housing at the lower opening, and includes a source of gas, a gas delivery assembly for delivering the gas through a plurality of pathways into the housing in countercurrent flow to movement of the heat treatable material, whereby the heat treatable material passes through the lower opening at the second temperature, and a control assembly for controlling conditions within the chamber to enable the heat treatable material to reach the second temperature and pass through the lower opening at the second temperature as a heated material.

摘要: The hot air ladle preheat station comprises an outer casing defining an opening for receiving a separately supported ladle. The opening is dimensioned so as to form a dilution air space about the ladle exterior. A wall is spaced inward of the outer casing and defines a space therebetween having a lower section for accommodating the ladle in spaced apart relationship from the wall and an upper flue section. Stack means are positioned for exiting flue gas from the upper flue section. A burner means is associated with the wall in the lower section for directing a flame into the ladle and a recuperator means cooperates with the upper flue section. Products of combustion are directed into the ladle and exit from the ladle in the space formed with the wall. The products of combustion mix with and are cooled by the outside air entering through the dilution air space and the mixture thus formed passes through the recuperator in heat exchange relationship with combustion sustaining gas utilized in the burner means.
