摘要： Apparatus for coupling multi-conduit drill pipes to maintain arcuate registry between connected pipes, and for transferring the drive torque of one drill pipe to the next drill pipe. One end of one drill pipe (50) includes drive lugs (100) matable with corresponding drive recesses (102) in the end of the next drill pipe (52). An index lug (104) in the drill pipe end, different that the drive lugs (100), is matable with a corresponding index recess (106) in another pipe end ot maintain arcuate registry of the coupled pipes and thus longitudinal alignment of the respective conduits (30) throughout the drill string. An internally threaded coupling collar (84) with different thread pitches at each end thereof is threadable onto the joined lug and recess mated drill pipe ends to hold the pipes mated. The joined pipe ends respectively include external threads (88, 90) of pitches corresponding to that of the coupling collar (84) so that a differential thread action draws the pipes together. A seal (86) is provided between the pipe ends so that when compressed by rotation of the coupling collar (84) each conduit (30, 62) is sealed from adjacent conduits.

摘要： A high voltage electrical connector assembly having a first connector (12) with socket terminals (44), matable with a second connector (14) having pin terminals (58). Socket terminals (44) are disposed in respective gradually tapered silos (40) of elastomeric material, and the second connector (14) is formed of rigid dielectric material to include silo-receiving recesses (50) surrounding the pin contact sections (56) of the pin terminals (58). Each silo (40) includes a leading end portion extending a selected distance beyond the socket contact section leading end (72) and abuts the recess bottom (96) prior to full connector mating. Upon completion of connector mating, the silos (40) are longitudinally compressed at their leading end portions (74) and thereby become radially expanded to tightly engage the inner surfaces (128) of the silo-receiving recesses (50) and establish compression seals (130) therewith therealong to define sealing of the mating interface against voltage leakage paths that otherwise would permit generation of corona.

摘要： A conduit grounding wire coupling device includes an insulator bushing carrying internally threaded collar for engaging an externally threaded section of an electrical conduit, the collar being provided on its outer peripheral face with circumferentially spaced, radial protuberances having flat outer faces with tapped central bores and angularly spaced diametric grooves in each outer face radiating from respective tapped bores. A wire clamp member includes a rear wall and longitudinally spaced outwardly projecting arms, one of which defines a first jaw and the other having a tapped bore engaging a second jaw carrying bolt. The clamp member rear wall has a depending section provided with a bore and a diametric ridge which engages a selected diametric groove and is locked to the collar at the selected orientation by a bolt engaging the collar and clamp member rear wall bores.

摘要： Multiple linear arrays of optical fiber cable are aligned and spliced by use of a thin rigid chip with a large number of closely spaced parallel longitudinal fiber-receiving grooves having a uniform cross section. An array splice is built by stacking successive layers of chips and linearly arrayed fibers. A termination is prepared from the foregoing by end grinding or the like. Two ends so prepared are then brought together and aligned by one or two aligning modules having grooves which are mating opposite to those of the chip. The system achieves relatively precise and reliable axial alignment for corresponding fibers of the two prepared terminations.
