摘要： A method of forming a mold for use in the casting of a steel railway freight car truck component is provided. A cope mold is formed by providing a near net shape oversize impression of a cope pattern of a product to be cast in a flask. A cope pattern of the product to be cast is then placed on the flask forming a spacing between the cope pattern and the oversize impression. A resin coated sand is then blown to form a sand layer between the oversized impression in the flask and the cope pattern. The resin sand is set to form a mold of a thickness between the oversized impression in the flask and the cope pattern of the product to be cast. The drag mold is formed in a similar manner.

摘要： A threaded fastener includes a nut forming a threaded center hole that defines a rotational axis. The threaded fastener also includes a plurality of spring plungers affixed to the nut, each having a shaft that is aligned parallel to the rotational axis. The threaded fastener also includes a positioner forming (i) an unthreaded center hole that is coaxial with the threaded center hole and (ii) a plurality of recesses facing the spring plungers. As the nut is torqued against the positioner on a threaded spindle, the spring plungers repeatedly engage and disengage the recesses as the nut rotates with respect to the positioner. The recesses are shaped such that positioner converts the applied torque into a linear force that compresses the spring plungers, thereby locking the threads of the nut against the threads of the spindle.

摘要： A system for polishing a cylindrical lip-seal surface includes a spin platter, a polisher having an abrasive surface, and a fixture. The spin platter rotates about a rotation axis to spin a workpiece, shaped as a hollow cylinder, about a cylinder axis of the hollow cylinder. The fixture holds the polisher against an outward-facing cylindrical surface of the hollow cylinder to polish the cylindrical surface with the abrasive surface while the workpiece is spun by the spin platter. A method for polishing a cylindrical lip-seal surface includes spinning, with a spin platter, a workpiece shaped as a hollow cylinder about a first cylinder axis of the cylinder. The method also includes holding, during the spinning, a polisher having an abrasive surface against an outward-facing cylindrical surface of the hollow cylinder to polish the cylindrical surface.
