    Abstract: The disclosure notably relates to a computer-implemented method for designing, with a CAD system, a 3D modeled object representing a mechanical part. The method includes obtaining a B-rep representing the mechanical part. The B-Rep has faces and edges. The method further includes obtaining a first set of faces and a feature type. The feature type is either a depression feature type or a protrusion feature type. The method further comprises, automatically by the CAD system, recognizing a second set of faces within the first set of faces. The second set of faces represents a feature of the provided feature type. This constitutes an improved method for designing a mechanical part.

    Abstract: A computer implemented method for designing a 3D modeled object that represents a mechanical part. The method comprises selecting a group of faces of the B-Rep, defining a trajectory for each respective face of the group of faces, computing, for each face of the group of faces, a respective swept volume, the swept volume corresponding to the volume swept by the respective face with respect to the trajectory, assigning a material removal label or a material adding label to each swept volume, according to the position of the swept volume at the respective face with respect to the interior of the 3D modeled object, and updating the B-Rep with a material removal volume and then a material adding volume. The method improves the design of a 3D modeled object.

    Abstract: A computer simulation system is configured to display to a user a graphical user interface to allow the user to import experimental test data, identify a material model that includes one or more parameters to be calibrated during a material model calibration process, perform an iterative optimization process to calibrate the material model, the iterative optimization process uses an optimization algorithm that enforces a constraint based on Drucker's stability criterion across one or more predetermined strain ranges to generate a calibrated material model, assign the calibrated material model to a component of a simulation model based on input from the user, a real-world equivalent of the component being made of the physical material, and perform a simulation that includes the component, the simulation using the stable material model and stable set of parameters to simulate response of the real-world equivalent during the simulation.

    Abstract: A computer-based system and method generate a movement of a 3D part of a 3D assembly in a 3D scene. Movement of the 3D part represents rotation by a predetermined angle. The method a) displays a 3D assembly of 3D parts in the 3D scene; b) selects a 3D part of the 3D assembly; and c) displays in the 3D scene a 3D manipulator. The 3D manipulator comprises three axes, and is anchored to the 3D part at an anchor point. The method then d) drags the 3D manipulator along one axis by a current distance from the anchor point on the axis. The predetermined angle corresponds to a maximum distance from the anchor point. The method e) while dragging the 3D manipulator, computes a ratio of the current distance to the maximum distance, and f) generates the movement of the 3D part proportionally to the ratio.

    Abstract: A method for designing a 3D modeled object can implement a modeling graph having nodes that represent geometrical objects and arcs that each represent a relationship, wherein procedural relationships are represented by unidirectional arcs, wherein the relationships linking the geometrical objects further include live relationships that are represented by bidirectional arcs, and wherein the provided modeling graph respects a criterion that all the arcs of each strong component of the modeling graph are bidirectional. Upon adding a relationship linking two of the geometrical objects that are included in the data defining the 3D modeled object before the addition, the method selects two geometrical objects to be linked by the relationship to be added, the selection being performed according to the criterion.

    Abstract: A computer-aided design system and computer-implemented method define initial conditions for dynamic simulation of an assembly of objects in a three-dimensional scene of a computer-aided design. The system and method provide (S1) the assembly of objects with information relative to kinematic joints linking objects of the assembly. The system/method provide (S2) a manipulating tool (M) embedded in the scene; attach (S3) said manipulating tool (M) to one object of the assembly; select (S4) a degree of freedom of the manipulating tool (M) attached to the object of the assembly; and input (S5) at least one initial condition (IC) according to said selected degree of freedom, an initial condition comprising an initial position and/or an initial speed and/or an initial acceleration. The tool has a referential (reference) with three-axes allowing for each axis a degree of freedom in translation and a degree of freedom in rotation. Next the system and method calculate (S6) and display in real time the dynamic simulation taking into account the initial conditions (IC) previously defined.

    Abstract: The invention notably relates to a computer-implemented method for designing an outer surface of a composite part manufactured by molding a stack of material layers. The method comprises defining constant offset surfaces, a constant offset surface being a respective part of the outer surface which is to have a constant offset value relative to the reference surface, the constant offset value of a respective constant offset surface corresponding to the sum of the thicknesses of the material layers below the respective constant offset surface, and determining a final surface that corresponds to a tangent continuous connection of the constant offset surfaces. This provides an improved solution for designing an outer surface of a composite part.
