The toner base includes binder resin, colorant, release agent, and modified layered inorganic mineral that is obtained by modifying, with an organic ion, part of ions between layers in layered inorganic mineral. An amount of the modified layered inorganic mineral is 0.1 parts by mass or more and less than 1.4 parts by mass relative to 100 parts by mass of the toner. Liberation ratio A (% by mass) of silica from the toner satisfies relation (1): 0.5≤A≤1.0. The binder resin includes a component insoluble in THF and a component soluble in THF. The component insoluble in THF has two glass transition temperatures of Tga1st and Tgb1st at first temperature rise in DSC. The Tga1st is −40° C. or more and 10° C. or less. The Tgb1st is 45° C. or more and 65° C. or less.

A liquid crystal display element includes a cholesteric phase liquid crystal component and a space holding member held within a pair of substrates, wherein at least one of which is transparent. The liquid crystal component is a chiral-nematic liquid crystal material containing a liquid crystal pyrimidine compound having fluorine in the molecule, liquid crystal diphenylacetylene having fluorine in the molecule, and a chiral component. The liquid crystal component may also contain a liquid crystal phenylcyclohexane compound, a liquid crystal cyanobiphenyl compound, and a liquid crystal alkenyl compound. In the present invention, characteristics such as color purity and reflectivity are improved, contrast is increased, and the drive voltage can be reduced by including in the nematic liquid crystal component a liquid crystal pyrimidine compound having fluorine within the molecule, and a liquid crystal diphenylacetylene compound containing fluorine within the molecule.

The invention provides an information recording/displaying card and an information recording/displaying system using the card in which invisible information can be recorded, the invisible information can be displayed as visible information and visible information can be written/erased as color images at a practical speed. The information recording/displaying card includes a visible information display part and an invisible information recording part. These parts are disposed, for example, on the front and back surfaces of the card, respectively, or arranged side by side on the front or back surface thereof. The visible information display part includes, as a main component, a low molecular weight cholesteric liquid crystal compound having an isotropic phase transition temperature higher than a melting point, so that information can be displayed, written once and erased therein. The invisible information recording part is, for example, a magnetic recording layer, a write-once optical recording layer or an integrated circuit memory, in which information can be recorded and erased.

This recording material can be produced by condensing a derivative of dicarboxylic acid and cholesterol or by making halide dicarboxylic acid and cholesterol react to each other. By locating this material purely or as a mixture between a base layer and a transparent protective layer, a rewritable thermosensible recording medium can be obtained.
