Abstract: The invention comprises compounds of the formula wherein R is an alkyl, alkoxy or aryl radical, R1 is an alkyl or alkoxy radical, and n is 0 or 1. They may be obtained by reacting acids of the formula with halomethylpyridine derivatives of the formula The process is preferably carried out in the presence of inert organic solvents such as aromatic hydrocarbons, and low-boiling aliphatic ketones and nitriles. The alkali metal or ammonium salts of the corresponding dithiophosphorus acids are preferably used. The reaction may be carried out in a protective gas atmosphere. The products have pesticidal properties and may be used as plant protection or pest control agents (see Division A5).ALSO:Pesticidal compositions comprise as active ingredient a compound of the general formula:- wherein R is an alkyl, alkoxy or aryl radical, R1 is an alkyl or alkoxy radical, and n is 0 or 1 (see Division C2), together with a conventional solid or liquid diluent or carrier. The compounds of the above formula may be used in combination with each other or together with known insecticides and/or fertilizers. Specified liquid carriers are water (if necessary with commercial emulsifiers), alcohols, ketones and liquid hydrocarbons.
