Abstract: This application provides a method for determining a coding tree node split mode and a coding device. The method includes the step of determining a non-split based coding cost for coding a current image area corresponding to the current node and determining a binary tree split based coding cost for coding the current image area. The method further includes determining, based on the non-split based coding cost and the binary tree split based coding cost, whether a triple tree split based coding cost for coding the current image area needs to be obtained. If the triple tree split based coding cost needs to be obtained, a triple tree split is performed on the current node. The method then determines a split mode of the current node that corresponds to a minimum coding cost.

Abstract: A picture prediction method includes: determining motion vectors of W control points in a current picture block; obtaining motion vectors of P pixel units of the current picture block by using a motion model and the motion vectors of the W control points, where precision of the determined motion vectors of the W control points is 1/n of pixel precision, precision of the motion vector of each of the P pixel units is 1/N of the pixel precision, the motion vector of each of the P pixel units is used to determine a corresponding reference pixel unit in a reference picture of a corresponding pixel unit; and performing interpolation filtering on a pixel of the corresponding reference pixel unit by using an interpolation filter with a phase of Q, to obtain a predicted pixel value of each of the P pixel units.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an apparatus, an encoder, a decoder and corresponding methods for prediction refinement with optical flow (PROF) for an affine coded block, in which when a plurality of optical flow decision conditions are fulfilled for the affine coded block, performing a PROF process for a current sub-block of the affine coded block to obtain refined prediction sample values of the current sub-block of the affine coded block. After the sub-block based affine motion compensation is performed, a prediction sample value of the current sample of the current sub-block is refined by adding a delta prediction value. Thus, it allows for a better trade-off between coding complexity and prediction accuracy.

The picture prediction method includes: determining whether a merge mode is used for a current picture block; when the merge mode is used for the current picture block, determining whether a level-1 merge mode is available for the current picture block; when the level-1 merge mode is unavailable, and a high-layer syntax element corresponding to a first merge mode indicates that the first merge mode is forbidden to be used, determining a second merge mode as a target merge mode used for the current picture block, where the first merge mode and the second merge mode are included in a level-2 merge mode; and predicting the current picture block based on the target merge mode. In the embodiments of this application, redundancy generated in a merge mode determining process can be reduced as much as possible.
