摘要: An artificial ventilator includes a dome for covering the precordial and the sides of the thoracoabdominal of a patient, a blower to be used for applying negative and positive pressures within the dome, a regulator for adjusting a pressure, and the like. The valve switching device is controlled by a respiration detection system. In the respiration detection system, a pyrolelectric element is used as a respiratory sensor for detecting a temperature change rate caused by an inspired and expired air flow. The temperature change rate signal obtained by the sensor is compared with a threshold value set by a variable resistor, the start timings of expired air and inspired air are detected in accordance with the comparison result, and air inspiration and expiration start timing signals are outputted. Further, the artificial ventilator can be provided with various functions of forced respiration and intermittent deep breathing by means of a timer, synchronization only with air inspiration timings, reduction of frequency of respiration assistance for the intention not to use the ventilator in the near future, backup during apnea, and the like. The artificial ventilator allows a physilogical respiration assistance matching the patient's physiological intention by synchronizing with the patient' s respiration. Thus, an effort and pain in breathing with a conventional mechanical ventilation can be avoided so that the artificial ventilator is suitable for a long term use and useful for a quick recovery of respiration function of an acute respiratory failure patient.

摘要: A surgical instrument for cutting and separating biological tissue by employing ultrasonic vibration, particularly for cutting bones, separating the periosteum, and cutting and separating a coherent mass such as a calcium mass. An ultrasonic vibration-transmitting tool (5) which is connected to an ultrasonic vibration source (4) and performs mechanical vibration at the frequency of the ultrasonic waves has a spoon-shaped working portion (7) which is provided with at least one of a blade-shaped portion (25) forming a predetermined angle with respect to the direction of the mechanical vibration at the frequency of the ultrasonic waves and a blade-shaped portion (23, 24) substantially parallel with the direction of the vibration, the spoon-shaped working portion being adapted to be brought into contact with the biological tissue, and a liquid passage (21) passing through the interior of the ultrasonic vibration-transmitting tool, the liquid passage having an opening (22) which opens into the working portion. Further, by making of ceramic the whole part or the surface portion of the working portion (7) which is provided with the blade-shaped portion to be brought into contact with the biological tissue, it is possible to prevent wear deformation of the blade-shaped portion, and also to prevent transmission of electrical shocks to the nervous tissue in the event of a simple electrical fault state.

摘要: An information processing apparatus includes a first storage unit and a processor. The first storage unit includes a first storage area. The processor receives a first request to write first data into the first storage area. The processor requests an external apparatus to write the first data into a second storage area in a second storage unit included in the external apparatus. The processor determines whether a first response has been received from the external apparatus. The first response indicates that the first data has been written into the second storage area. The processor writes the first data into the first storage area when the first response has been received. The processor requests, without writing the first data into the first storage area, the external apparatus to write second data stored in the first storage area into the second storage area when the first response has not been received.

摘要: A storage system is disclosed that stores data across plural storage devices. The storage system includes plural modules. Each of the modules includes a storage device including a data storage section that has plural slice areas to store data elements one in each, and a control-information storage section that stores control information of the plural slice areas, a communications-function section having a function of sending and receiving the data elements stored in the slice areas in the data storage section. The modules communicate with each other to replicate the data element stored in the slice area into an unused slice area in another module so as to have data redundancy.

摘要: A file server has a conversion table that stores therein, in a corresponding manner, logical addresses specified by a higher-level layer and physical addresses specified by a disk driver that are address information indicative of a storage area in a disk device. The file server accesses the disk device with a storage area indicated by a physical address as an access destination and counts up the number of access requests to each storage area in a given period of time for each of the logical addresses. The file server then updates the conversion table such that the physical addresses are lined up in a descending order of the logical addresses of a higher number of the access requests counted. Thereafter, the file server changes storage areas of data stored in the storage device based on the conversion table updated.

摘要: An internode put requesting unit detects a time-out with respect to a put request issued to the next node in the order of a multiplexing chain and notifies a put/get executing unit of the time-out. The put/get executing unit sends an error to the previous node in the order of the multiplexing chain or a client and instructs a put-failed-data synchronizing unit to synchronize data failed to be put, and the put-failed-data synchronizing unit performs a synchronization process. A primary makes other put requests wait until completion of the synchronization process. Furthermore, when having received the error, the client issues a get request to the tail end of the multiplexing chain.
