Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for joint source and polar coding. Source bits may be received and/or ordered based on the priorities of the source bits. The ordered source bits may be grouped. For example, the source bits may be grouped into one or more blocks. The ordered source bits may be distributed among the one or more blocks. For example, the ordered source bits may be distributed among the one or more blocks based on priorities of the ordered source bits. The ordered source bits may be mapped to polar coder ports. For example, the ordered source bits may be mapped to the polar coder ports based on a reliability of the polar codes of the ordered source bits. The transmitter may transmit the mapped ordered source bits of the one or more blocks. Polar encoding of the respective mapped ordered source bits may be performed.

Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may generate a first signal that utilizes a tail suppression signal generated from data and utilizes a first unique word. Elements of the data and the first signal may be mapped to one or more discrete Fourier transform spread (DFT-S) functions. An inverse DFT on symbols generated by the one or more DFT-S functions may be performed to generate a second signal for transmission.

Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may receive a unique word-error check (UW-EC) encoded signal. A pre-decoder data check entity may check for errors based on EC bits and systematic and parity bits from the UW-EC encoded signal. If an error is not detected at the pre-decoder data check entity, data without an error may be signaled to a source decoder without channel decoding.

Abstract: Precoding, a symbol permutation operation, or pulse shaping may be used to suppress or cancel a tail or head of a symbol. Precoding may include utilization of a suppression vector. A unique word (UW) may be added to the suppression vector before spreading. The symbol and values of the suppression vector may be spread by a spreading function(s) and may be shaped prior to transmission.
