Abstract:
A device for separating and isolating components of a biological fluid comprising a container for containing the fluid to be processed, a tube cap assembly for closing the container while providing filling and extraction communication therewith, a float assembly disposed within the container for funneling and controlling biological fluid flow into an inverted domed shaped isolation chamber within the float and controlling the biological fluid flow out of the isolation chamber for effecting an encapsulation or a sealed isolation of at least one component or fraction of the biological fluid flow within the isolation chamber during a centrifugation process. The device further comprising a flexible tube for connecting an extraction passageway disposed within the float assembly and an extraction valve of the tube cap assembly for allowing extraction of at least the one component or fraction encapsulated or isolated within the chamber.

Abstract:
A cooling mechanism for a current carrying conductor is proposed. The mechanism includes a first layer having plurality of micro fluidic channels. The first layer is thermally coupled to the current carrying conductor and configured to exchange thermal energy. A micro-pump is configured to circulate a heat exchange fluid through the micro fluidic channels to exchange thermal energy with the first layer and remove heat from the current carrying conductor. The heat exchange fluid and the current carrying conductor are electrically isolated.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the preparation of a series of oxidized cellulose esters suitable for use as a drug carrier in the development of biodegradable controlled and/or sustained release pharmaceutical, agricultural, and veterinary compositions, such as films, compacts, microspheres, and pellets. The esters are prepared by acylation of oxidized cellulose having at least 3% carboxyl groups. The resulting oxidized cellulose esters are soluble in aqueous alkaline solutions, water, and a variety of organic solvents.
Abstract:
A standardized system for developing hardware platforms and operating systems for computer systems. The system comprises: (1) a first standardized protocol for developing hardware platforms, wherein the first standardized protocol requires each hardware platform to include a bios program having: a first system for setting up a plurality of control features on the hardware platform; and a second system for collecting a standardized set of abstraction information and storing the abstraction information in a standardized format; and (2) a second standardized protocol for developing operating systems, wherein the second standardized protocol: requires each operating system to include an interface call to obtain the abstraction information in the standardized format; and requires each operating system to be operational on a target hardware platform with the abstraction information.
Abstract:
An embodiment of the invention provides a method of managing a cluster of networked resources and resource groups using rule-based constraints. This method includes the step of building a globally optimal cluster configuration of the resources in accordance with the rule-based constraints and a current state of the resources, including identifying for each of the resources and resource groups an availability and quality of service, which are determined by dependencies among the resources and resource groups, resource equivalency, constraints on the resources and network policies. The method comprises the further steps of bringing the cluster of resources on-line in a systematic manner, given the current state of each of the resources and resource groups; and with the cluster of networked resources on-line, determining dynamic dependencies of and configuration infomration about the cluster of resources (i) statically at defined times and (ii) dynamically during cluster operation.
Abstract:
The invention relates to aqueous suspension of dried latex (DL) of Calotropis procera and to a method of preparation for the prevention/treatment of cancer. The DL suspension when administered orally in the X-myc mice—a transgenic mouse model of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), was effective in protecting the animals from the atypical mitosis and displastic/neoplastic changes occurring in vivo. Further, the DL suspension did not show any observable side effects when administered orally to the animals for 16 weeks. Further, the purified fractions of the latex were found to exhibit potent cytotoxic activity in in vitro cell culture system using two different cancer cell lines.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a system for carrying out an industrial business process, which comprises means for graphically modeling the business process as an event-controlled process chain. An event-controlled process chain comprises interlinked work packages which are adapted to trigger at least one event each. The dependencies of the work packages are defined by means of the connections of the work packages. A work package is adapted to receive an event from the preceding work package and a work package is adapted to hand over an event to the subsequent work package. The fact that at least one work package can trigger a plurality of events, whereby every one of these events can be handed over to the subsequent work package independent of the other events, accelerates process execution and therefore reduces handling time and costs.
