In an axial turbine wheel including a rotor disk and a plurality of turbine blades each having a base end retained by the rotor disk via a joint and extending radially from the rotor disk, a seal plate is received in outer and annular slots formed in the base ends of the turbine blades and rotor disk, respectively, and an annular shoulder is formed in the wall defining the inner annular slot on a side remote from the rotor disk, the annular shoulder thereby defining an inner narrow section and an outer wide section in the inner annular slot. Thus, the seal plate can be easily placed in position by first fitting the inner peripheral edge thereof in the inner narrow section of the inner annular slot, fitting the outer peripheral edge thereof in the outer annular slot until the inner peripheral edge clears the annular shoulder. Thereby, the outer and inner peripheral edges of the seal plate are received in the outer annular slot and outer wide section of the inner annular slot. The outer peripheral edge of the seal plate may abut the bottom of the outer annular slot so as to allow the seal plate to be firmly retained even when subjected to a large centrifugal force.

A memory cell structure and controlling the memory operation are simplified, and the cost of production is decreased lower than ever before. A semiconductor nonvolatile memory comprises a transistor including a gate electrode provided on a p-type semiconductor substrate via a gate insulating film, and a source region and a drain region, which are a pair of n-type impurity diffusion regions in the surface layer region of the semiconductor substrate at positions sandwiching the gate electrodes therebetween, and a first resistance-varying portion and a second resistance-varying portion which are the regions sandwiched by the source region, drain region and channel-forming region, and where the n-type impurity concentration is lower than those in the source region and in the drain region.

A gas-detecting element comprising an oxygen-ion-conductive solid electrolyte substrate, a sensing electrode fixed onto said solid electrolyte substrate and active with a detection object gas and oxygen, and a reference electrode fixed onto said solid electrolyte substrate and active with at least oxygen, for detecting potential difference between the sensing electrode and the reference electrode to determine the concentration of the detection object gas, the sensing electrode and/or the reference electrode being covered by an electrode-coating layer made of an oxygen-ion-conductive solid electrolyte, and the electrode-coating layer having a portion bonded to the solid electrolyte substrate directly or via an electrode underlayer made of an oxygen-ion-conductive solid electrolyte.

To offer excellent hermeticity inside a battery having high productivity and being covered with package members by means of solving a problem such as sealing failures caused by gaps between sides of lead electrodes and the package members in sealing parts, in which the lead electrode to be disposed. During a step of sealing between ends of the package members and the lead electrodes by fusing the sealing members, or during a step of adhering the fused sealing members to the lead electrodes, stripping sheets made of a material such that the fused sealing members does not adhere to heaters, are inserted between the package members, or the sealing members and the heaters. Accordingly, even if the fused sealing members are forced out from ends of the package members, or leaked toward the outside, the sealing members does not adhere to surfaces of the heaters or crumble their shapes.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a gas sensing device, an oxygen pumping cell, and a gas detection apparatus using the same for detecting lower ranges of gas concentration with high accuracy and stability. An under layer made of oxygen-ion-conductive solid electrolyte was formed between an electrolyte substrate and a sensing electrode, a conversion electrode or a gas treatment electrode. This allows the physical and chemical adhesion between these electrodes and the electrolyte substrate, thereby improving the sensing properties and stability.
Abstract:
A measuring apparatus has a magnetizing head for magnetizing a magnetic layer of a specimen, and a detecting sensor for detecting a magnetization of a magnetized area which has been magnetized by the magnetizing head. The magnetization detected by the detecting sensor is supplied via a sensor amplifier to a controller. Based on the supplied magnetization, the controller determines the thickness of the magnetic layer from a magnetization to magnetic layer thickness conversion table or formula. The thickness of the magnetic layer can therefore be measured accurately in a short period of time.

In an ink-jet printing apparatus employing an ejection failure detecting construction for optically detecting the number of ink droplets interrupting a light path, when a power source for an apparatus is turned on, a home position is detected. A carriage is shifted from this point at a constant speed, and ink ejection is performed sequentially within zones P1 to P2 where a photosensor is present. Then, among variations of output of the photosensor by sequential ink ejection, the number of steps S of a motor up to a timing where the maximum output Vmax is output. In a subsequent process for detecting ejection failure, ejection is performed at this position.

A process for the preparation of an aqueous solution or dispersion containing a cationic polymer, which comprises the steps of: polymerizing a monomer including an N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide represented by the general formula CH.sub.2 .dbd.CHNHCOR, wherein R represents a hydrogen atom or methyl group, in an aqueous medium in the presence of either or both of a polyethylene glycol and polypropylene glycol; and then modifying the resulting polymer with an acid or base. Furthermore, an aqueous composition containing a cationic polymer, which comprises (A) a modified N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide polymer, (B) either or both of a polyethylene glycol and polypropylene glycol, and (C) water is disclosed.
