摘要： A convertible mower deck which, in one embodiment, encloses the blade when it is in a mulching mode is provided. In a discharge mode, the deck provides one or more gaps, troughs or ducts through which cut material clippings can escape. The deck is convertible convert to a rear discharge mode by removal of a plug or insert that extends along the rear of the cutting chamber walls of the deck. The plug or insert is configured to seat into a slot, windfoil or ridge provided in the deck. A quick connect fastener at one end secures the plug to the deck. The ridge, windfoil or slot is flared outwardly and/or downwardly to provide a discharge opening. Because the material clippings in a discharge mode are permitted to exit through the opening(s) before they impact a mulch ramp deflector (on the underside of the mower deck or on the blade) the clippings “leak” out the opening and onto the top of the lawn or into a bag.

摘要： A cutting and mulching housing for a riding or lawn tractor accommodating a rotary cutter therein, said cutter having a grass clipping recirculating chute and a separate grass clipping discharge chute with is elevated relative to said recirculating chute. The bifurcated chute assembly separates and repeatedly recuts larger clippings and thereafter discharges them through said elevated chute. The rapid motion of the rotary cutting blade over the exit of the lower recycling chute provides a radial flow of air thereacross which circulates and directs larger, heavier clippings back into the cutting blade to be finely mulched. The elevated discharge chute may be directed into a collection device connected thereto or downwardly back into the lawn. The mulching housing may be factory installed or retrofitted onto existing lawn mowers.

摘要： A multi-bladed mulching mower comprises a cutting deck having a peripheral skirt and side discharge outlet. A plurality of cutting chambers extend across the width of the deck and are defined by vertically extending shroud walls that depend downwardly from a top wall of the deck. A rotatable cutting blade is received inside each cutting chamber. The mower can be converted to a discharge/collection mode of operation by removing a portion of the shroud walls adjacent the side discharge outlet. The removed portion of the shroud walls extends laterally across the deck but is substantially less than the entire transverse width of the cutting chamber array to allow the removed portion of the shroud walls to be installed or removed through the side discharge outlet. A plurality of rotatable knobs removably attach the shroud portion to the deck with the knobs being accessible from above the deck to further ease the tasks of installing or removing the shroud portion.
