摘要: A shoulder immobilizer (20) includes a semi-rigid or rigid orthosis, in the form of an arm support (22), which supports the upper arm, elbow, forearm and wrist of a patient. A bolster (24) is positioned between the patient and the arm support (22). A body strap (26) extends around the patient and attaches to the arm support (22) and/or the bolster (24), holding the arm support and bolster in position against the body of the patient. In embodiments, the shoulder immobilizer (20) may utilize a shoulder strap (28), but such a shoulder strap is not necessary for shoulder immobilization of the patient.

摘要: The present invention relates to an arm protection apparatus, and particularly an apparatus for protecting an arm from pressure injury. The apparatus comprises a pliant material having receiving portions for the upper arm and lower arm and releasable straps for the upper and lower arm. Wherein, in use, the channel and straps surround the arm so as to distribute pressure on the arm and reduce the likelihood of pressure injury.

摘要: The plantar flexion prevention device is an elastic sock. The sock extends over a foot to a calf area above the foot. A heel portion has a first attachment mechanism positioned near a plantar surface of a heel of the foot. There is an inverted Y-shaped inelastic strap that has two members securely attached to the elastic sock near the plantar surface of a metatarsalphalangeal joint region of the foot. A third member has a second attachment mechanism positioned in a middle portion of the third member. There is an inelastic toe strap that extends from a toe portion of the sock. A separate adjustable cuff with a third attachment mechanism is positioned above the calf area of the leg. The inelastic toe strap attaches to the second attachment mechanism of the inverted Y-shaped strap for toe extension, and can attach to the first attachment mechanism for toe flexion.

摘要: One aspect relates to reducing a pressure differential across one or more supporting surfaces of a body surface of an individual at least partially by displacing at least one displaceable contouring unit to at least partially conform to one or more contours of the body surface of the individual. Certain aspects can relate to stabilizing at least the one or more supporting surfaces of the body surface of the individual at least partially with at least one of the at least one displaceable contouring unit Other aspects can relate to relatively displacing at least one displaceable contouring unit with respect to a medical device portion based at least in part on a contour of an individual to support at least a portion of the individual while limiting pressure applied to the individual.

摘要: A pair of bone clamps used for open reduction and internal fixation of a fractured bone or osteotomy is interconnected by a lockable, articulating connection apparatus. Each bone clamp includes a primary clamping means for manipulating a bone fragment back into a proper position. Additionally, each bone clamp includes a secondary bone clamping means that provides adequate clamping force for maintaining the reduction so that the primary clamping means can be released. The secondary bone clamping means provides clearance for the positioning and application of a fracture fixation prosthesis to stabilize the reduction during healing. The bone clamps and lockable, articulating connection apparatus together comprise a bone setting apparatus that provides for unconstrained manual reduction and alignment of the bone fracture, locking of the reduction in a fixed position and orientation, and application of a fracture fixation prosthesis, thereby securing the reduction.

摘要: An adjustable splint assembly for use in immobilizing the leg of an animal, such as a dog includes an elongated sleeve portion having a plurality of taping clips extending outwardly from opposing sides thereof, and a shaft portion slidably received within the sleeve portion such that the shaft portion and the sleeve portion are telescopically adjustable. The sleeve portion including a plurality of a set screws that extend through the sleeve to selectively engaging the shaft portion to selectively secure the shaft portion relative to the sleeve portion. In use, it is preferable to link together at least two of the splint assemblies together. In this regard, the opposing ends of the splint assembly (one on the shaft portion and one on the sleeve portion) have complementary pivot connectors such that the sleeve portion of a first splint is releasably and pivotably connectable to the shaft portion of second splint. The pivot connectors also include a single set screw that passes through one of the pivot connectors and selectively engages the surface of the opposing connector to selectively secure a relative rotational position of the pivot connectors of the respective first and second splints.
