Abstract:
The present invention provides a means for producing a laminar output of fluid which is substantially turbulence free. The present invention utilizes an input tank or enclosure which includes turbulence reducing and flow straightening devices for producing a turbulent free output flow of water. This enclosure uses a tangential input port to introduce water to the enclosures which results in much more uniform and controllable flow profiles of the water through the device. The entire device may be situated entirely beneath the surface of a pool, pond or fountain, with a clear glass or plastic tube extending above the water level to provide a visibly nonintrusive protective path for the laminar output flow.
Abstract:
A fountain device selectively produces either a spray or a stream of water when used with a hose. The device includes a hollow body portion which has a water inlet formed at one end thereof. The body portion includes a water exit surface formed with both a plurality of small water exit ports and a large water exit port therein. A flow selecting valve is provided which has three states: an off state in which no water flows through the body portion, a spray producing state in which water flows through the body portion and exits therefrom through the plurality of small water exit ports, and a stream producing state in which water flows through the body portion and exits therefrom through the large water exit port. The flow selecting valve is positioned downstream of said water inlet and upstream of said water exit ports.
Abstract:
A compound block kit of edge-toothed concrete blocks, in which the compound blocks are coordinated relative to their cross-sectional shape and size and have cobblestone blocks to palisade blocks of various heights. The cobblestone compound blocks and palisade compound blocks are provided with edge-teeth extending around the entire block circumference and are engageable with one another. The similar edge-teeth prevent a relative shifting of the blocks. The identical cross-sectional shapes and sizes permits any desired insertion and exchange of compound blocks at any desired position.
Abstract:
The present invention is a fountain system which includes a plurality of wooden barrels. The fountain system includes a first wooden barrel which is disposed at a first level and which has an outlet for water and one half of a second barrel which is disposed at a second level, which is below the first level, so that the water from the outlet of the first wooden barrel may flow into the second wooden barrel. The fountain system also includes a pump which pumps the water from the second wooden barrel to the first wooden barrel, a tubular conduit which is fluidly coupled to the pump and a dispersal nozel which includes a flat plate and a hollow truncated-member which is fluidly coupled to the outlet of the first wooden barrel which is formed by a plurality of bores in the sidewall thereof and which is also fluidly coupled to the tubular conduit. The fountain system further includes one half of a third wooden barrel which is disposed at a third level which is intermediate the first and second levels so that water from the output of the first wooden barrels flows into the third wooden barrel, which also has an outlet, and a flow guide which guides the flow of water from the outlet of the third wooden barrel, which is formed by a plurality of bores in the sidewall thereof, to the second wooden barrel. The second and third wooden barrels may be covered with screens in order to minimize splashing. The third wooden barrel has an apparatus for controlling the overflow of water therein.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are provided for use in decorative water fountains, dish washers, and the like, wherein one or more pairs of oppositely projected fluid streams are collided to form dispersals having preselected shapes and movement or location functionally related to the relative magnitude, pressure or impact velocity, and alignment of the streams.
Abstract:
A hanging apparatus for falls and hanging plant which includes a pair of liquid receptacles which are supported in respective top and bottom positions with the top liquid receptacle being substantially directly above the bottom receptacle. The top liquid receptacle is capable of dropping liquid from a plurality of locations to the bottom liquid receptacle, and the bottom liquid receptacle is positioned for and is capable of receiving the falling liquid so as to enable a multiple falls effect. At least one other receptacle is capable of supporting a hanging type plant. This plant receptacle is positioned above the bottom liquid receptacle, and the plant receptacle has a periphery which is different from the outside envelope of the falling liquid so that the hanging plant will not interfere with the falling liquid.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a perpetual fountain comprising an upwardly open container filled with liquid, a heat source heating the bottom of the container, and in the container a conduit which successively comprises, in the bottom of the container, a downwardly open, downwardly flared frustoconical portion, a rising vertical column of small diameter, a descending vertical, enlarged portion, and a rising vertical tube of small diameter which terminates at an open point positioned a little above the level of said liquid.
Abstract:
Self-acting waterspout device having a hollow body adapted to be held either in a first vertical position and an inverted second vertical position upside down with respect to the first vertical position. A pair of sets of oppositely arranged waterspout means each comprising a spout chamber, pressurizing chamber, a water storage chamber, a spout pipe communicating the pressurizing chamber with the spout chamber, a circulating pipe communicating the spout chamber with the liquid storage chamber, and a water feeding pipe communicating the water storage chamber with the pressurizing chamber are arranged in the body with one of the means positioned at the topside of the body when held in either of the first and second vertical positions while the other is positioned at the downside of the body. A predetermined amount of liquid is contained in the body, so that, when the body is held in either of the vertical positions with the liquid held in one of the pressurizing chambers and one of the spout chambers then positioned above the others, air in the water storage chamber communicating with the then upper spout chamber is pressurized by the liquid supply therefrom which air in turn pressurizes air in the then upper pressurizing chamber thereby urging liquid therein through the spout pipe into the spout chamber so that water jet is continuously effected by the spout pipe until the liquid level in the pressurizing chamber descends below the spout pipe. After termination of the water jet by one of the sets of the waterspout means, the body is inverted so that the water jet can be again effected by the other set of the waterspout means.
Abstract:
A support base for an ornamental water fountain includes a base housing having at least one water inlet opening to an internal chamber from an upper portion of which an outlet opening is formed through the housing. A fountain nozzle is coupled to the housing via the outlet opening. A plurality of lamp support arms are each connected at one end thereof to the housing to extend radially from the housing substantially normal to the axis of the chamber outlet opening. At least one lamp is mounted to each arm to illuminate the fountain pattern produced by water discharged from the nozzle. The base and lamps may be installed as a unit in a fountain bowl. By connection of floats to the support arms or to the housing, the assembly may be used as illuminated floating fountain in lakes and the like.
Abstract:
A plurality of discrete discs of different specific gravity are guided for vertical movement in a transparent container. Random movement of the discs is initiated by introducing a liquid into the container at locations above and below the discs.
