摘要： A spirit level vial construction provides various refinements in the structure and method of manufacture of vials used for the containment of fluid and adapted to be installed in spirit levels. The construction is particularly adapted to use with spherical vials, i. e., level vials having a concave spherical form within the sight glass portion containing the bubble, and adapted to provide level information relative to a planar surface. However, the present construction may also be used for tubular type level vials. Vials using the present construction are formed of plastic materials (particularly acrylics) for economy, and are preferably molded by an injection molding method in order to reduce substantially any warping or deformation during the molding process. Various clear or dyed fluids which are compatible with the plastics may be used, particularly mineral spirits. The vial components are permanently assembled and sealed preferably by sonic welding, in order to preclude any leakage of the fluid from the vial seam. The result is an economically manufactured, yet durable level vial having great longevity and utility.

摘要： A tool for abutment against an object to detect when the object is at a predetermined orientation is temporarily securable to the object in order to free both of the operator's hands for other activities. Plural spirit level vials, oriented to face in different directions, indicate when the tool is vertical, horizontal or inclined at one or more predetermined angles. In the preferred form, the tool body has a central handle region from which arms extend in opposite directions and a pair of members extend laterally from the end of each arm to define segments of a right angled slot into which the object is fitted. The tool preferably has three different types of fastener including retractable nail-like pins which may be penetrated into wood or the like, elastic cords which may be used to clasp the object and magnets which cause the tool to cling to steel posts, pipes or the like.

摘要： A spirit level assembly attachable to a free end of a pipe section being installed includes a housing block of generally rectangular cross-section in which a series of viewing ports are formed through opposed side walls thereof. Fitted into each of the viewing ports is a spirit level vial or bubble. Integrally formed on the opposed ends of the housing block are cylindrical stubs of predetermined diameter corresponding to commonly encountered pipe sizes. The stubs are threaded in accordance with the National Pipe Thread convention. When the housing is screwed onto the length of pipe being leveled or plumbed, an appropriate bubble vial can be viewed to establish the desired horizontal or vertical orientation of that pipe segment.

摘要： The sensor comprises a body formed by first and second elements of which at least one has a cavity, the elements being sealed together to form a chamber. The chamber contains an electrically-conductive liquid which fills it almost completely so as to form a bubble. At least one main electrode and at least one pair of auxiliary electrodes extend into the chamber through the body and are accessible on the exterior thereof, so that any variation in the inclination of the body relative to at least one predetermined direction causes a movement of the bubble and a corresponding variation in the electrical resistance measurable between each auxiliary electrode and the main electrode. The electrodes are constituted by strips of electrically-conductive material deposited by screen printing on at least one of the said elements by thick film deposition method.

摘要： A tool for aligning flanged pipes having openings in the flanges comprises a body having a pair of probes each of which terminates in a finger of such size as to be accommodated in an opening in the flange, the probes being slideable longitudinally of the body so as to be usable with pipe flanges of greatly differing diameter. The probes are equipped with cantilever springs which aid in maintaining the fingers in proper position in the flange openings regardless of the size of the latter. The probes are rotatable relatively to the body from a first position in which they extend substantially normal to the body to a second position in which they substantially parallel the body, and the probes include guides which maintain the arms in a selected one of such positions.

摘要： A center line locator for pipes and the like consists of an arcuate member, the curve of which matches the circumference of the pipe and an angle shaped body member secured thereto at its ends and incorporating a bubble level in one section thereof. The arcuate member is applied to a pipe and moved circumferentially thereof until the bubble level indicates a level condition whereupon indicia on the arcuate member indicate the longitudinal upper center line of the pipe and the longitudinal side center line of the pipe.
