摘要:
A system for, and method of, compensating for a boundary condition effect on a Coriolis meter having (at least) two sensors for generating preliminary signals that are a function of fluid flow through the meter and a Coriolis meter employing the system or the method. In one embodiment, the system includes: (1) signal combination circuitry, couplable to the (at least) two sensors, that develops an imaginary difference signal based on the preliminary signals and (2) boundary effect compensation circuitry, coupled to the signal combination circuitry, that calculates a boundary effect compensation factor based on the imaginary difference signal.

A solid state transducer is provided for a Coriolis flow meter having a flow tube adapted to vibrate at a predetermined resonance frequency to determine mass flow rate of a fluid passing therethrough. The driver includes a strain element, such as an elongated piezoelectric or magnetostrictive element fastened axially along the wall of the tube. The strain element is adapted to oscillate in the axial direction along with the tube wall to generate and/or sense vibration of the tube in response to. The transducer may be utilized as a driver or alternatively, as a sensor wherein the transducer is oscillated along with oscillation of tube wall in the axial direction to generate an output signal responsive thereto.

This method of fastening a metal body to a an outer circumference of a single straight measuring tube, consisting of titanium or zirconium, of a Coriolis-type mass flow sensor does not need any heating, for example soldering, welding or brazing, process. The metal body has a circumferential surface and a bore adapted to the outer circumference. The metal body cooperates with an exciter arrangement or with a sensor arrangement or serves as a cantilever mass or as an end piece of the measuring tube. The metal body is pushed on to the measuring tube and is subsequently pressed on to the latter at ambient temperature. A pressure sufficient for fastening but not reducing substantially the lumen of the measuring tube at the fastening position is exerted on at least part of the circumferential surface.

A Coriolis flowmeter having a single straight flow tube, a balance bar parallel to said flow tube, a brace bar connecting ends of the balance bar to the flow tube and to a surrounding case. Improved dynamic balance of the flowmeter is maintained in response to changes in density of the flowing material by reducing the spring function of the balance bar and/or the flow tube. This concentrates the spring function of the flowmeter in the brace bar structure. A vibrational node in the brace bar structure separates the effective spring function of the balance bar from the effective spring function of the flow tube. The vibrational node moves within the brace bar in response to materials of different densities in the flow tube at different times. This nodal movement changes the ratio of the effective balance bar spring function to that of the effective flow tube spring function to maintain improved dynamic vibrational balance of the flowmeter without involving the case mass.

A mass flow meter for flowing media, which operates according to the Coriolis principle, has a straight Coriolis measuring tube, an oscillation generator acting on the Coriolis measuring tube, and at least one sensor detecting Coriolis forces and/or Coriolis oscillations based on Coriolis forces. The problem which results from the fact the mass flow meter has only one straight Coriolis measuring tube is largely eliminated by designing the Coriolis measuring tube as a flow channel of a thick-walled body, namely a thick-walled tube, the thick-walled tube having recesses accessible from the outside and reaching very close to the Coriolis measuring tube. The oscillation generator acts upon the residual material of the thick-walled tube remaining in the area of the recesses, and the Coriolis forces or Coriolis oscillations appearing in the area of the residual material of the thick-walled tube are detected by each sensor.

A vibration type measuring instrument measures at least one of a mass flow rate and a density of a fluid flowing through a straight measurement pipe by vibrating the measurement pipe, obtains a frequency ratio of a resonant frequency of a first vibration mode to a resonant frequency of a second vibration mode of the measurement pipe, and corrects a measured value of at least one of the mass flow rate and the density according to the frequency ratio. The instrument includes a first vibration detector for detecting at least one of a vibration generated in the measurement pipe depending on the mass flow rate and the resonant frequency of the first vibration mode of the measurement pipe; and a second vibration detector for detecting the resonant frequency of the second vibration mode of the measurement pipe. The second vibration detector is provided around an antinode of the second vibration mode of the measurement pipe to improve the detection sensitivity in the second vibration mode.

Disclosed is a Coriolis flowmeter which is capable of detecting a mass flow and a density of fluid with an increased stability by resonantly oscillating a double tube portion consisting of an inner flow tube allowing fluid to flow therein and a coaxially disposed thereon counterbalance tube provided with a weight for equalizing the lateral natural frequency of the counterbalance tube with that of the flow tube. The Coriolis flowmeter has supporting metal means for supporting the both ends of the flow tube in such a way that the both ends of the flow tube is restricted in radial directions and axially movable in respective connecting flange; the inner flow tube has extending ends enlarged in diameter and supported in the respective connecting flanges of the outer housing. The flow tube is further supported at near-to-end portions on respective rectangle leaf springs having a plane parallel to oscillating direction and extending in radial direction of the double tube portion being perpendicular to the oscillating direction within the outer housing. The flow tube is thus supported at four stable points representing oscillating nodes, axially movable but radially restricted, assuring stable oscillation and accurate measurement of mass flow.

This mass flow sensor is to be fitted with two straight tubes, but conventionally needed manifolds are to be dispensed with. The sensor can be installed, by flanges, in a conduit of a given diameter so as to be axially aligned with the conduit, through which flows a fluid to be measured. It has a straight measuring tube, which extends between the flanges and is traversed by the fluid, and a straight dummy tube, which extends parallel to the measuring tube and is not traversed by the fluid. Also provided are a nodal plate on the inlet side and a nodal plate on the outlet side, one of which fixes the inlet-side end portion of the measuring tube to the corresponding end portion of the dummy tube, and the other of which fixes the outlet-side end portion of the measuring tube to the corresponding end portion of the dummy tube, such that the measuring tube and the dummy tube are arranged side by side. A support tube has its ends fixed to the respective flanges. A circuit for exciting resonance vibrations of the measuring tube acts only on the dummy tube. The measuring tube and dummy tube may also be coaxial with one another.
摘要:
A flow meter apparatus for measuring the mass flow rate of a fluid using the Coriolis principle. A single straight flow conduit is employed which is vibrated in a radial-mode of vibration. Coriolis forces are thereby produced along the walls of the flow conduits which deform the conduits cross-sectional shape as a function of mass flow rate. Additional embodiments are disclosed employing radial vibration of selected portions of the flow conduit walls.
