摘要： A sickle apparatus employing an endless cutter mechanism is provided wherein its modular construction allows the size of the apparatus to be readily tailored to variously sized equipment. A plastic liner is configured to engage the rollers of the roller drive chain as well as form a seal with a section of the traveling blades to reduce the incursion of debris into the mechanism. The blades have a positive angle of attack and are additionally configured to continually sweep out any debris from between sealing surfaces.

摘要： A trimmer which can reduce the size of a section including a lubricating oil pump for automatically supplying a lubricating oil to a saw chain during the drive of the saw chain and drive shaft members for driving the saw chain, and secure good mountability of the section. In the trimmer, a gear unit is mounted to the forward end portion of an operating rod, and a gearcase of the gear unit, a mount base and a seal case are mutually connected toward an output shaft. A regenerative pump includes a stirring chamber defined between the mount base and the seal case, and a tabular grooved rotor which is fitted to a drive shaft to be coaxially connected to the output shaft and which is rotated in the stirring chamber in accordance with the rotation of the output shaft. Lubricating oil discharged from the regenerative pump is supplied to a saw chain through a supply port of the mount base, through-holes of the chain bar, through-slots and a guide groove.

Traveling blades are attached to the hollow pin drive chain by fasteners extending through the hollow pins to facilitate repair with a minimum of downtime. The use of liner material prevents a pivoting or twisting of the chain to stabilize the traveling blades while minimizing wear and tear. A positive attack of the traveling blade relative the fixed blade provides for a positive cutting action.

摘要： An aquatic weed cutter has a continuous cable strung along the horizontal and vertical members of an inverted T-shaped cable frame. The cable is moved by a motor drive in a circuit between opposed sheaves on the ends of the horizontal and vertical members. The drive comprises a pair of engaging belts which hold the cable therebetween and drive it about the circuit. Cutting clips are attached at spaced intervals to the cable for cutting the stems of underwater plants.

摘要： A power lawn mower including a plastic endless chain type cutter assembly having a plurality of plastic whip sticks which produce aeration and suction within the mower casing for improving grass cutting and dispensing. Each whip stick includes an elongated generally flat portion which extends horizontally and merges with a main lift or curved wing portion with the wing portion including a leading impact edge and a trailing lift edge. In operation, the cutter assembly is moved continuously with the lift portions of the whip sticks acting to create an aerating effect for causing a vacuum or suction within the mower casing. This action causes a continuous flow of air to be drawn between the ground and casing for discharging cut grass outwardly through an opening in the casing. The whip sticks are permitted limited pivotal movement upon striking obstacles during rotation. The cutter assembly is supported during powered rotational movement on elongated horizontal portions of a chain guide and support member. A guard is mounted to the chain guide and support member, and the guard includes a slot along which the flat horizontal portions of the whip sticks move as they are being rotated. The guard and a portion of the mower casing form an enclosure or tunnel which permits efficient transferring of cut grass from the casing.

摘要： An apparatus for harvesting and windrowing of corn utilizes one or more conveyor units swingably mounted to a corn harvesting implement such as a combine or corn picker and has horizontally moving cutting means carried forwardly of the conveyor units. As the implement moves through a field of standing corn, the cutting means severs the cornstalks as harvesting heads on the implement engage the stalk and strip the corn ears from the stalk. The conveyors receive and transport the severed stalks to a cornstalk discharge location between the conveyor units to create a cornstalk windrow along the path of the traveling implement. Corn plant residue, such as leaves, kernels, ear husks and the like, resulting from husking, are discharged from the implement and guided by deflector plates onto the windrow to be retained there for curing and later pickup. A set of horizontally moving knives having upright pushers are carried by an endless moving chain to sever the stalks between converging knives and to urge the stalks toward the windrow. A method of harvesting standing corn by the utilizing of a windrow is also disclosed.

The endless cutting member comprises, in the first embodiment of this invention, an endless cable wrapped circumferentially by a helical coil with cutting elements and cogs mounted thereon. In a second embodiment, the endless cutting member comprises an endless steel band with cutting elements welded thereon. In both embodiments, the cutting elements move between two rows of teeth of a comb disposed along the frontal cutting portion of the cutting device, thereby shearing the grass as the cutting elements flow between the teeth.

摘要： A combine header has a transverse platform carrying a cutting apparatus. An elongated auger having reverse spiral flights move cut material along the platform to a feed housing. The cutting apparatus has a base carrying forwardly projected guards located on 2-inch longitudinal centers. An endless chain carrying knife blades is trained about sprockets located adjacent opposite ends of the base. The knife blades are located on three-inch longitudinal centers. The forward run of the chain moves through a passage in a housing secured to the base behind the guards. The knife blades move over the wear plates attached to the guards to cut material located between the guards. A removable inverted U-shaped insert is located in the passage providing a bearing surface for the front run of the chain and a hold-down lip bearing on the knife blades to hold the blades in close relationship with the wear plates. A hydraulic motor connected to a hydraulic pressure source drives the chain to move the knife blade relative to the guards.
