Abstract: A downhole tool includes an expandable sleeve having an outer surface. The expandable sleeve is configured to expand radially outwards without fracturing apart. The tool also includes a plurality of button inserts positioned at least partially in the expandable sleeve and extending outward past the outer surface by a first distance, so as to engage a surrounding tubular when the expandable sleeve is expanded. The tool further includes a first band of grit material on the outer surface, adjacent to at least one row of the plurality of button inserts. The first band of grit material extends outward from the outer surface by at least the first distance, to shield the plurality of button inserts during run-in of the downhole tool.

Abstract: A frac plug is provided. The frac plug may include a plug body, a slip, a sealing element, and a compression ring. The plug body may have a first end portion and a second end portion. The slip may be circumferentially disposed about the plug body and configured to expand and couple the frac plug to a tubular section. The sealing element may be circumferentially disposed about the plug body and configured to create a seal between the plug body and an inner surface of the tubular section. The compression ring may be circumferentially disposed about the plug body proximate to the first end portion and abut the sealing element. The compression ring may be configured to expand when shifted along the plug body to compress the sealing element and retain the sealing element in a compressed position.

Abstract: A shift uphole-to-open sleeve assembly is provided for insertion along a tubular string for multi-stage, selectable wellbore treatment. The sleeve assemblies are very short in length, being too short for in-sleeve engagement, and instead have a downhole shoulder engageable for opening using dogs of a conventional shifting tool. Use of a common J-mechanism having four axial inappropriately places the sealing packer of a downhole tool above the sleeve ports. Multiple extra J-mechanism cycles are required to position the packer downhole thereof. Herein a modified downhole tool is disclosed including a biased repositioning sub to eliminate many of the extra tool cycles. In embodiments the short sleeve can replace casing collars.

Abstract: A ported tubular is provided for use in casing a wellbore, to permit selective access to the adjacent formation during completion operations. A system and method for completing a wellbore using the ported tubular are also provided. Ports within the wellbore casing may be opened, isolated, or otherwise accessed to deliver treatment to the formation through the ports. A tool assembly and method for completing a well are also provided. The tool includes debris relief features that enable use in solids-laden environments, for example in the presence of sand. Forward and reverse circulation pathways to the isolated interval are present to allow clearing of debris from the wellbore annulus while the sealing device remains set against the wellbore.

Abstract: A borehole plug or packer for treating is designed to be flowed back to a surface location after use. When the treatment is concluded pressure from above is relieved or lowered, and well fluid is flowed back, so that the plug or plugs disengages at slips designed to resist differential pressure from above. The application of differential pressure from below causes the lower slips to release one or more of such plugs in the hole into specialized sub surface or surface capture equipment so that well pressure is relieved before removal of the plugs from specialized subsurface or surface capture equipment. Packers or plugs are captured above, below or at a wellhead in a receptacle. Production ensues without milling with the captured plugs or packers in place or removed.

Abstract: A crossover sub includes a tubular housing connected to a drill string in a wellbore, a sealing structure to seal against a wellbore wall, and a sleeve valve disposed within the housing and movable between a closed position and an open position in response to a fluid pressure in a first flow chamber or second, separate flow chamber of the housing. The first flow chamber fluidly connects an upper annulus of the wellbore to a central bore of the drill string downhole of the crossover sub. The second flow chamber fluidly connects a central bore of the drill string uphole of the sealing structure to a lower annulus of the wellbore. The sleeve valve closes the second flow chamber in response to the sleeve valve being in the closed position, and opens the second flow chamber in response to the sleeve valve being in the open position.

Abstract: A downhole tool includes a slip member having an actuation surface, a bracing surface and an engagement surface. The slip member is pivotable about a pivot axis such that it can move between retracted and extended configurations. When the slip member is in the extended configuration, the engagement surface engages a bore wall. The downhole tool also includes a wedge member that has a wedge surface. The wedge member and the slip member are configured to move relative to each other such that the wedge surface of the wedge member engages the actuation surface of the slip member to cause the slip member to pivot about the pivot axis.
