    Abstract: An overpressure safety system for use with a distribution of pressurized fluid associated with hydrocarbon production operations includes a safety valve in fluid communication with a main bore of a fluid control manifold assembly. The safety valve has a blocking condition where the safety valve blocks a flow of pressurized fluid through the safety valve, and a venting condition where the safety valve provides a fluid flow path for the pressurized fluid at a set overpressure to pass through the safety valve. A valve member is moveable within the safety valve between a first position where a pressure side of the valve member blocks the flow of the pressurized fluid at a pressure below the set overpressure from passing through the safety valve, and a second position where the valve member provides a fluid flow path for the pressurized fluid at any pressure to pass through the safety valve.

    Abstract: A valve having improved resistance to black powder wear and damage includes a valve body defining a flow passage therethrough, an upper bonnet assembly defining a stem opening, and a stem passing through the stem opening. The valve also includes an elongate gate having a proximal end operatively attached to the stem, a distal end, an orifice sized and adapted to permit essentially unopposed passage of material through the gate when the orifice is aligned with the flow passage of the valve body, the orifice being located proximate the proximate end of the gate, and a solid portion sized and adapted to substantially completely block the flow of material through the gate when the solid portion is aligned with the flow passage of the valve body, the solid portion being located distally of the orifice such that the orifice is located between the proximal end and the solid portion.

    Abstract: A valve actuator assembly having an actuator housing coupled to a bonnet and a housing lid. A hydraulic cylinder is positioned within the actuator housing and directly coupled to the bonnet. A piston is positioned within the hydraulic cylinder and coupled to a spring lifter assembly and a spring is positioned within the actuator housing and having a first end and a second end, the first end being coupled to a lower surface of the housing lid, and the second end being coupled to the spring lifter assembly. An operating stem is coupled to the piston and positioned in a channel extending through the bonnet to a valve body assembly.

    Abstract: A valve for controlling the flow of a solid material from an opening includes a gate having a first face adjacent the opening, a second face opposite the first, and an orifice. A support is disposed adjacent the second face of the gate and is configured so that the gate can move relative to the support from a first position permitting the material to flow from the opening through the orifice and a second position preventing the material from flowing through the opening. The support is movable in a direction substantially orthogonal to the first direction so that the distance from the first face to the opening can be varied.

    Abstract: A valve operator assembly having a tubular housing extending along a central axis, an input member rotatably mounted with the housing, a transmission mechanism arranged in an inner bore of the housing and extending along the central axis, the transmission mechanism providing a rotating element connected to the input member and a translating element, the transmission mechanism adapted to convert applied rotation of the input member to the rotating element into axial translation of the translating element. At least one rolling bearing is radially arranged between an inner bore and rotating element to support in rotation and guide the rotating element within the housing. The valve operator assembly includes a clutch mechanism to permit transmission of driving torque from the input member to the rotating element in both directions around the central axis, and prevent any back-driving torque from the rotating element to the input member in either direction.
