摘要： A fail-safe measuring weight comprises a body portion having a threaded bore therethrough, the threaded bore including a portion of reduced diameter. An adjustment plug for adjusting the weight to within a very fine tolerance of its final desired value includes a head portion and an exteriorly threaded stem portion, the stem portion being receivable in the reduced diameter portion of the body portion bore for securing the adjustment plug therein, and inhibiting inaccuracies of the weight due to improper use. Because the adjustment plug comprises 1% to 5% of the total weight of the instrument its absence may be readily ascertained. The fail-safe weight further comprises a cover member having a threaded bore for receiving adjustment particles which may be sealed therein. The cover member further includes a rod member, integral therewith and partially disposed therein transverse to the longitudinal axis of said cover member, portions of the rod member projecting from the sides of the cover member to form hand grips, whereby movement of the weight is facilitated.

摘要： An assembly for semi-automatic weighing and bagging of fruit or like product. A feed apparatus, including a motor driven softbristle spiral brush, delivers fruit past a gate to a pivotal scoop for facilitating weighing and bagging of the fruit. The amount of fruit accumulated in the scoop is weighed by a scale the scale having a four point linkage system with ball bearings at each pivot point - and the amount of weight is sensed by a photocell responsive to movement of a moveable member of the scale. Circuitry connected to the photocell displays the weight of the accumulated fruit on a visual display, and provides for dynamic braking of the feed motor and movement of the gate to a position wherein it prevents delivery of fruit to the scoop. After the scoop is emptied and moved back to normal position, the motor is activated and the gate removed and the operation can be repeated.

摘要： The helical tension spring which counteracts the weight of an object on the scale pan of an inclination balance is fixedly attached to one arm of the balance beam to avoid friction in the connection between the spring and the beam. The attachment permits the spring position to be adjusted along the beam and the effective length of the spring to be adjusted. The weighing errors resulting from buckling of the spring are compensated by a suitably modified scale from which the weight is read.

Each truss has a torsion band with an upper active run stretched between fixed upper corner spools and a lower active run stretched between movable lower corner spools. The lower corner spools engage cams which are rotated to vary the distance between the upper and lower active runs of the band to adjust the sensitivity of the balance to eccentric loads on its pans.
