摘要： A method of splicing a power cable used to supply electricity to down hole submersible pumps uses a pair of annular armored seal members that are slid over the ends of an insulated electrical conductor being spliced together. Each armored seal member has a plurality of O-ring seals on one end thereof and a plurality of openings in the side thereof and are used to cover and protect a crimped conductor being spliced together. The method and apparatus allow a pair of spliced electrical cables to be used in an adverse environment.

摘要： A method for enhancing the dielectric properties of an electrical cable segment having a central stranded conductor encased in a polymeric insulation jacket and an interstitial void volume in the region of the conductor, including filling the interstitial void volume with a dielectric property-enhancing fluid at a pressure below the elastic limit of the polymeric insulation jacket, and confining the fluid within the interstitial void volume at a residual pressure greater than about 50 psig, with the pressure being imposed along the entire length of the segment but below the elastic limit of the polymeric insulation jacket. Preferably, the residual pressure is sufficient to expand the interstitial void volume along the entire length of the cable segment by at least 5%.

摘要： A connector plug for attaching to a coaxial cable, by which the user strips the cable sheath through the jacket, braid, and dielectric, exposing a length of the signal conductor, and inserts the cable with exposed conductor into a hollow connector plug until the cut face of the cable abuts an insulator that is integral to the plug, and the signal conductor passes through a bore in the insulator. The insulator acts in place of the cable dielectric on a conventionally trimmed cable. An open faced “F” type nut is electrically connected to the body of the plug, forward of the insulator, and the exposed signal conductor extends through the nut. A screw on the plug body is then tightened, cutting through the jacket and making contact with the cable braid, thereby completing the ground connection between jacket and nut.

The cable connection structure further includes a positioning member lying between the signal electrode and the ground electrode for positioning the center conductor while the inner insulator is attached to the positioning member.

The discontinuity section may have an impedance different than the first impedance and a length which is configured to attenuate a second frequency band.

摘要： A protective jacket in a coaxial cable. In one example embodiment, a coaxial cable includes two or more internal components and a jacket surrounding the internal components. The internal components include an electrical conductor configured to propagate a signal and an outer conductor surrounding the electrical conductor. The jacket includes two or more protruding portions and two or more recessed portions. Each recessed portion is positioned between two of the protruding portions. Each of the protruding portions makes contact with the outer conductor and each of the recessed portions does not make contact with the outer conductor. A method for manufacturing a coaxial cable with a protective jacket is also disclosed.
