Abstract: A method and apparatus for routing packets in a network, such as a satellite mesh network. Geographic routing is employed in which packets specify their physical destination location. Network nodes maintain physical location information for nodes, along with routing information, for a limited portion of the network which is local thereto. At each node and for each packet, a target node is selected from the limited portion. The target node may be the node which is closest in orthodromic distance to the physical destination location. Based on the routing information, a route through the limited portion of the network to the target node is determined, other nodes are configured (e.g. via source routing) to cause the packet to traverse the determined route, and the packet is forwarded toward the target node.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for configuring an edge computing device to implement a logical router belonging to a logical network. The method configures a datapath executing on the edge computing device to use a first routing table associated with the logical router for processing data messages routed to the logical router. The method configures a routing protocol application executing on the edge computing device to (i) use the first routing table for exchanging routes with a network external to the logical network and (ii) use a second routing table for exchanging routes with other edge computing devices that implement the logical router.

Abstract: Responsive to receiving the BGP UPDATE message, a route reflector may (1) update a CLUSTER_LIST value and, if needed, an ORIGINATOR_ID value, in a path attribute section in the BGP UPDATE message to generate a revised BGP UPDATE message, and (2) send the revised BGP UPDATE message to a client of the route reflector, regardless of whether or not one of (A) field validity checking of the BGP UPDATE message, (B) Adj-RIBS-In update using the BGP UPDATE message, (C) decision processing for route selection using information in the BGP UPDATE message, or (D) Adj-RIBS-Out update using the BGP UPDATE message, is completed (or perhaps even started). This provides faster route propagation and avoids delays associated with processing BGP UPDATE messages (NLRI with advertisements and withdrawals) at each hop the NLRIs using conventional BGP such as next-hop validation, best path selection, etc.

Abstract: Gateway devices at different sites of a primary Anycast network provide access to the sites by advertising a first set of Anycast addresses. A secondary shadow Anycast network advertises different second sets of Anycast addresses from the different sites in order to predetermine traffic shifts that occur as a result of changing one or more of the second set of Anycast addresses that are advertised from one or more of the sites. A traffic shifting device may implement a predetermined traffic shift in the primary Anycast network by selecting a particular second set of network addresses that produces a traffic shift at least equal to the predetermined traffic shift, mapping the particular second set of network addresses to a modified first set of addresses, and modifying routing in the primary Anycast network by advertising the modified first set of addresses instead of the first set of addresses.

Abstract: A congestion notification method, a related device, and a system, where the method includes receiving, by a network side device, a congestion status of a target network area sent by a radio access network (RAN) congestion awareness function (RCAF) entity, where the target network area is a network area involved in an application service provided by a target application server; and sending, by the network side device, the congestion status of the target network area to the target application server. Hence, an application server may able to learn in time when congestion occurs, and adjust, according to the congestion situation, a related service in an area corresponding to the congestion situation.
