    Abstract: Techniques for optimizing messages in a telecommunications network are discussed herein. More particularly, an SMSF can be configured to refrain from sending deregistration and/or unsubscribe messages to a UDM in response to a handover from 5G to 4G, which can thereby reduce signaling in the network. Further, because of the suppressed messages, the network maintains SMSF session information, which indicates the delivery location for a SMS message. However, when a SMSC receives a SMS addressed to the UE, the HSS may query a UDR for SMSF session information, SMSF registration status, and/or AMF registration status. The HSS may determine a location for the SMS based on the active location of the UE, as determined by the AMF registration status. Thus, the techniques discussed herein represent network optimizations while allowing SMS messages to be correctly routed in a network.

    Abstract: Embodiments include methods performed by a V2X application enabler (VAE) client of a V2X User Equipment (UE) arranged for communication with a VAE server. Such methods include sending, to the VAE server, a registration or de-registration request to register or de-register for receiving intelligent transport system (ITS) messages. The registration or de-registration request includes an identifier of the V2X UE and an identifier of a first type of ITS messages from the VAE server, for which the V2X UE wishes to register or de-register for receiving. Such methods include receiving, from the VAE server a response indicating acknowledgement of the registration or de-registration request. Other embodiments include complementary methods performed by VAE servers, as well as UEs and application servers configured to perform such methods.

    Abstract: Systems, methods and computer software are disclosed for resolving multiple contexts for a User Equipment (UE) in a wireless network. In one embodiment a method includes maintaining, for a coordinating node hosting a first Radio Access Technology (RAT) controller and a second RAT controller simultaneously, a centrally maintained database; determining, based on the contents of the centrally maintained database, when the UE is registering with the second RAT controller while currently registered with the first RAT controller; and sending, by the second RAT controller, a deregistration command to the first RAT controller the UE was registered with, wherein context is freed and wherein resources held at both the coordinating node and at a base station are freed.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for optimizing N10 interface messaging. Specifically, registration messages, de-registration messages, and the like can be dynamically controlled such that communication is prevented. Said messages are communicated via an N10 interface between a Unified Data Management function (UDM) and a Session Management function (SMF) in a 5G network. Additionally, subscription information, user profile information, etc., is also communicated via the N10 interface. Thus, the N10 interface can easily become overloaded or congested. Aspects herein provide mechanisms to avoid additional congestion of the N10 interface by intelligently eliminating specific messages communicated to the UDM via the N10 interface.

    Abstract: A method of handling of 5G NAS security context for UEs supporting multiple registrations to different PLMNs over both 3GPP and non-3GPP access types is proposed. The UE should handle the NAS security contexts of the same PLMN similarly, and should handle the NAS security contexts of different PLMNs for different access types independently. If the UE registers to a PLMN over 3GPP or non-3GPP then the security contexts of the PLMN for both 3GPP and non-3GPP are set invalid. If the UE has been registered in a PLMN over 3GPP or non-3GPP and has stored security context for the PLMN and is now deregistered from the PLMN over 3GPP or non-3GPP, the security context of the PLMN becomes valid for both access types.

The wireless device receives, from the AMF, a registration accept message comprising an access traffic steering, switching, and splitting (ATSSS) capability indication of the 5GS network. The ATSSS capability indication indicates whether an ATSSS feature is supported by the 5GS network. The wireless device sends, to the AMF of the 5GS network and after receiving the registration accept message, a packet data unit (PDU) session establishment request message comprising a request for a PDU session.
